Sir John.... Congratulations on a Superb meet! I had to go to the CJ2A pages to see it... A least you created some excitement there. It was nice to see JPet, M38 Mike and Mrs Ellen, and of course....Sir "The Stuff" Bruce W. Ain't he cool!
I still need more photos of you and your Jeeps! I can't use. Jeff's without his permission.
Have you ever been to South Carolina ?

You know that I'm "lacking" in the photo department. I think the solution is you just come here with your camera and do it! Dueling cameras or something like that. That reminds me, we ran into a guy working in his cabin yard with no shirt on that flagged down me at the front of the tour. He had two other "guys" closely behind him and I was asked by him if he could come along with his lifted TJ Wrangler. I asked him back if he had flat fenders. At that point I was wishing I had a shoulder holster on with my 500 smith in it. Wasn't too sure what was coming next as we were skirting through private property on a legal right of way. The ice cleared when he said he could make them flat and we all laughed. I then said if you do that then yes, you can come. But-------------The movie Deliverance was at the forefront of my mind when they met those back woods hillbillies. I stepped on Hulett's gas and moved out as they were laughing! See Ya! Wow! Oil

Thanks for the pictures Jeff! Oh, that one does leak oil. All English cars leak oil. They are brothers to Willys Jeeps for sure. John

Great photos and great write-up by oileaker! I too feel like I missed out. (I don't think I have the Willys reliability required for a public event at this point anyway.)
I like the different photo angles (like from above) of the line-ups. Worth a stomp up the hill through the poison ivy patch. Thanks.
Oh hey beautiful 100-4 or 100-S big healey. I think I see a fold down windscreen there and the bonnet louvers...that would make it a 100-S if I recall. WOW! I have LOTS of big healey adventure stories! *laughs* 1963 3000 MK2(and maybe a half?) And yeah, it leaks oil. A couple of summers ago, my wife and I took the big healey to the drive-in to watch Steve McQueen in "The Blob."

Sharp eye on Healeys there Rudy! It's not a "S" it's a Lemans model. 4 speed, overdrive, 1956. Last of the 100-4's. English cars undercoat themselves. They maintain the roadways. Oh, and a gentleman does not motor about after dark. No need for good electric lights. Switches read: Dim, Flicker, Off. They use spanners , not open end wrenches, and use parafin to clean greasy parts. The fenders are wings, the hood is a bonnet, and the trunk is the boot. Driveshafts are propeller shafts, and U joints are spiders. Gasoline is Petrol. The top is called the lid. Tires is spelled tyres. Pre ignition is called "pinking" Missing engine is "hunting". MGTD oil pressure is described as "any appreciable amount". Chrome is called "bright work". It just goes on and on. Then there are Smiths Instruments! That's where Lucas electric employees go to work for when laid off. They drink warm beer because they have Lucas refridgerators. Spoked wheels, knock off hammers, tyre irons, side curtains, coachwork, carvel carpet, wool carpet, castrol motor oil, wow!!!!!! You learn what to bring in your Willys after owning and traveling in a English car! John

OK, OK, I'm here, and YES I'm doing it again! I'll be picking a weekend in the middle of June again. This year was wetter than normal. I had to scramble and change the route I had planned due to the rain. So, that route is still on the list. It actually started on Thursday and ended on Wednesday with early and late arrivals. I treated them like a teacher treats a star pupil. We took in some extras, so don't be shy if you want to do more than a couple of days. We even power washed our Jeeps at my shop and went out to eat and see some pilgrim attractions. There is just so many things to see and do in the Black Hills. Jeeps are just a part of it. Devils Tower, Mount Rushmore National Memorial, Mt. Roosevelt Lookout, Deadwood, Custer State Park, Moonshine Gulch Saloon, Deerfield Lake, (Flag Mtn., Custer Peak, Seth Bullock, Harney Peak, Cement Ridge, Terry Peak, Fire Lookouts) Many, many trails that traverse the Hills between Wyoming and SD. We drive more paved roads, than say in Montana and Colorado, but remember, the hills are 150 miles tall and 75 miles wide. You can do allot in one tank of gas here. Our own members were here too! Jpet, Bruce W, Binthere, who frequent the page. It looks like Lee and Haines have thrown their hats in the ring. Very Good!!!!!!!!!! I accept your application to be blessed here in the sacred grounds. I keep seeing in my mind Jpet wanting to hurry before M38Mike and Bruce W arrived, to go back up on Crook Mtn. above my home. He found a "scrambles section" he wanted to re-run. I love how you guys want to play with Jeeps. I don't get tired of them either. So, let's play boys! I'll confirm dates when it gets closer, but don't schedule the middle of June! Save that for : Are You Willing to Miss The Black Hills Meet # 2 ?? Signed BH Leaker

Hmmmmmmmmm! Moonshine Gulch Saloon EH!! Boy, you sure kept that one quite till long after I was gone!! Does that go well with Sir Lee's supersonic, or is it just to good for us northern folk!! We did get to see most of the sites Sir leaker refers to, but we did leave some for a possible future return trip!! Binthere

Chuckie, we never went near it. That's another trip you need to make eh! It's a very old bar with a front porch that has a liars bench on it. About 800 ball caps attached to the ceiling inside. You walk in and order without a menu, grab a beer yourself out of the refridgerator and sit down and stare at all the old historic photos that plaster the walls. When done, since you are a local and trusted soul, ( you wouldn't dare cheat them) You walk up to the counter, tell her what you had, and pay. She never questions your honesty. Love it. The way the world should be. How do you guys like that? Oilly

Exactly the way the world should be!! It used to be like that, but what happened? I guess somewhere along the line old fashioned discipline went out of style!!
