Do we have a firm date yet? I know, I know, I won't set the date for the Northern Colorado Mountain Run until after the first of the year, and Mike probably won't set the date for the Fall Colors Tour until after the first either, but I'm being asked, "Has Oilleaker set the date yet?" If I can tell Larry, "We won't know until after the first", then the blame falls on John instead of me. TS

I've extended it to a full week. (6 days). Going to allow Jeepers a weekend to get here, and at least Sunday of the next weekend to head out. There will be some repeats, but new runs also. I even have a new trail spotted that I have never been on. I'll be checking it out. (Castle Peak Trail). The thing to remember is, it's all about a good fun drive with windshield up and down the same day. Repeats are just as fun as the first time. We will go from asphalt to rocks. What's cool about the Black Hills is that it isn't that far to almost anywhere. The beginning dates are either the 15th or the 22nd of June. Home base is: 12072 Crook City Road, Whitewood, SD 57793. You can Google Earth it and then Jeep around from your computor seat. Binthere can't make it unless the wedding gets called off. Hey, Chuck, have them wait for a while to be sure they are ready to get married. Then you can come! Some people will come for only a day or two. That is fine. We'll most likely go out to eat as a group Friday night, and potluck Saturday night the last day. Hope you all can come. Life is short, so make the best of it. Oil

I've decided to set the date to the week of June 22nd! Pack your gear. Load your wagon. It's coming up fast since it takes me forever to fix anything. Oil

As we get closer, I'm thinking about having Hats made. Right now, my idea is Potomac grey with a Luzon red bill and a w/o Willys overland tailgate logo like a pickup has. On the back of the hat, Black Hills Run. Low profile type, I don't like the billboard fronts. Reminds me of Koneheads. What say you guys? I'm open to input. Oilly

Here is my request... The hat I buy gets placed on the front of one of your Jeeps, gets mudded drug, and basically earthed! for lack of a better word. I hang that stuff in my garage you know. It also has to be autographed! I told my mother about those pictures I sent, the helmet, the hats, the calendars. She said I have been like that since I was little. Always signing shit. I used to do Best Fishes, Like Steve Martin! GEEEEZ what a Deutchbag! Fun though aint it! I am down for 2 Hats!

I'm anxious to see how you guys all feel after we see the familiar names and put them to a face. Grumpy will debut his 3B. That's his goal, finish it and bring it. What I enjoy about these driving meets is just that, the group. I've never been to a car thing with so many like minded, fix your own bunch. The knowledge along and the extra parts that comes out of the woodwork is amazing. The Colorado FCT blew me away. The variety of jeeps and the willingness to dive into mechanics was great. Fred Caldwells Agrijeep which is rare as hen's teeth driving the rocks and mud right along with us. A rare thing it is. Oilly

Question! Do you like a dated hat or one that isn't and you can wear it until you can't get it to stay on your head anymore. I'm wondering if It makes a difference to you Jeep guys. Left overs would be still "in". I can also change colors each year or keep them the same provided I still am able to hold a meet. You never know what's coming next. Don't dally and miss out, come for the week and get your windshield time in. A good Jeep fix. Oil

It's just an opinion, but I'd nix the date and change colors every year.
However, with that being said, one of my favorite hats is one I received being part of a junior golf instruction camp on Hilton Head back in 2000. Yep, it's dated. And I don't care; I still wear it.

Update: Hats are ordered and we are scheduled to have our Friday night meal/get together or dinner out on the town, at Bullwacker's Saloon in Whitewood. It's one of the oldest Saloons in the Black Hills. Very nice and has good food. The owner is looking forward to it and even offered to serve doughnuts and Coffee in the mornings for a pre trip snack if wanted. What a guy. We also may get in on Whitewood's annual summer car show that is simply amazing with what comes out of the woodwork. It's free. I'm not sure of the date of the show yet. It's just possible right now. This will be a epic year to come Jeeping boys and girls. Oil

That biker thing was another meet, just like our Jeep meet. The bar owner is a business man, and bends over backwrds to please. Too bad the good guys sooner or later burn out with 24-7 work. Get it while you can. I'm slowly burning out on this Jeep thing. I have to hire a semi to haul all the cash to the bank. What a pain! Oil

Hey guys! If you haven't spoke up and want a hat, do so. If you want one and are not able to make it here, I'll be glad to send you one. I don't want to wait too long and find out they are out or can't get any more made. I hate that. We may have stickers also, but not sure about design, cost, etc. yet. Motel info. will be looked into this coming week. If you are tired of winter, you need to come and get some Jeep time in. I'm all pumped and ready. Your jeep was made to go and do this. Don't hold back and save it. Dirt washes off and you'll find it's fun!!!!! Oil

Since I'm confused as to where they all want to put it for display, a very small Black Hills Jeep Run 2015 would be enough. Whether it is a removable vinal window glass type , stick on the face, stick on the rear, I don't know. I doubt we'll need more than 20. I'm not going to get fussy either! Oil

Ok, I stopped at the Iron Horse Motel in Whitewood. It has new owners and they are working to correct and change anything they don't like. Nice guy. I have procurred a group discount and the weekly rates or day rates are the same. 65.00 per night for a room with two doubles, refridgerator, and microwave. TV etc. as usual. Wifi also. 4 people max per room, and if you are reserving it ahead of time he wants 1/4 deposit. He will set aside a block of rooms so you can all park together. 1-888-888-9091 or 605-722-7574. Ask for Mike or Mirana. Tell them you are with the Black Hills Jeep Run. This is the place about 2 blocks from the Friday Night meal at Bull wacker's Saloon. All of this plus gas is two miles from my place. Easy as cake! I like apple pie better though. Oil (PS if you don't already know, I offer free camping, outside water, some plug ins, and two professional porta potties on 5 acres at my place)

So far , 6 of you knights are coming to The Black Hills Run. I need more. Dig deep and schedule time, and come. It will be worth it. I take trail boss duties very seriously. There is nothing more rewarding than trailing your Jeep with your friends. Trade secrets are freely given. Special treats. Lots of quality Evening BS. None better. Now, if you count me and Hawky, hat makes 8 knights. Add in some locals and 2A pagers, two military boys, it's looking good. None of these are anything but good Jeep people. So, speak up, pony up, commit! Let's do this. Oil

I'd give my left hoo-hoo to do this, but can't plan that far ahead. If anything, I'll be the guy asking to sleep on somebody's floor.

Trying to haul your buddy (Jeep) from SC or NJ to the Black Hills is just too much for most. However, Airplanes do land in Rapid City, and rental cars can shuffle you. We always have extra seats and friendly people that love to give rides. It can be done. You also can go see Devils Tower and Mount Rushmore while here. The meet is a week, so that makes it more worth while. Oil
