Well...got everything hooked up except the fender. Antifreeze and oil. Cranked it and nothing. No spark. Cleaned points, cleaned plugs checked voltage to all applicable areas. Still no spark. Replaced rotor and finally got spark but no gas to cylinders. Checked compression and 80 across the board. Almost got a start but killed the battery and flooded the spark plugs. Still have time in the morning before the car show.
We'll see if I can make it.

Well...it's alive. Must have been 20 gallons of fuel in the intake. Quieter than the Supersonic and smoother. Going to button it up and off to the car show. Film at 11.

We have a open position here in the mechanics division of Oilleaker Motorsports. Pay sucks, but the HBR's are available. Hope all goes well in it's initial test run. Oilly

Oilly Well...you will be most proud of me Sir Oilleaker. Yes I still have an oil leak, appears a slight leak on the new front crank seal. Go figure. Guess I still get to fiddle with it.

Make sure it isn't coming along the crank and out the front by the pulley nut. The two points where that stupid timing cover seal accross the motor plate and on to the pan are also damn near impossible to seal up. I live with small leaks. If a Jeep doesn't leak oil, it scares me.

If a Jeep doesn't leak oil, it scares me. I gooped it up pretty good where the timing cover meets. Looked like a bad spot. Kinda like when you replace just the timing chain on V8s you need to seal that spot. But the crank seal looked a little odd and the seal was pointing outward towards the cork part which is supposed to seal against the cover. With 60 psi of oil pressure that looked like a weak spot to me. Maybe I am wrong. Just an evenings work to fix with the proper seal.

The motor and trans are so quiet compared to how they were before. And with the new output bushing it shifts better as well, maybe why the whine is gone now. I have new noises to get used to and wonder what they may mean.

It's also funny how each newly installed component is the same as the one removed, but they do have their own unique noises. ...kind of like us people with different personalities.

Thanks! Just ordered one of those double lipped seals from Ron Fitzpatrick G503. That should seal better. Just need to get the timing cover gasket. Anyone close got one for sale?

Re torqued the headbolts this morning. Amazing how much the nuts moved again after a heat cycle and complete cool down.

Double lipped seal came in today from G503. But...not the gasket set.
So I played around with the jeep a little just because. I found the front crank pulley to move just a little when I pushed the fan. Hmmm...strange. Checked my other two engines one with the pulley bolt loose. The pulley had play, tightened the nut no play. Other one with tight nut, no play. So I torqued the nut on Short Round and still play. Hmmmm. Got out a large hardened washer and torqued the nut down and now no play. Ran it for several minutes and no leak.
I will find out when I drive to The National D-Day Memorial on Saturday morning if it worked but I think it will.

There is supposed to be a cork, tube shaped seal on the crank that gets smashed tight when you install the pulley. It comes in the overhaul kit, and is always too tall. I grind it down some when I install it. It's function is to keep oil from following the crank surface and out the front where the nut is. I tried a o ring and had no joy getting it to fit right, so back to cork. I also sealed one up by pulling the nut and smearing permatex around the crank and under the washer. Was your pulley loose on the moon key? Either the key or the pulley might be worn. Once it's all in the Jeep, it's no fun getting back in there. You have to pull the radiator out, and grill is still in the way. One of those "take your brain out, put it on the shelf, and do the job". When done, put the brain back in-----------all fixed. Oilly

Well, Oiley looks like the radiator is coming out tomorrow. Leaked on the 140 mile ride today. Once this is done it will be far less leaky than the Supersonic.

You'll get it Eric. It's just a Jeep thing. I have my own leaks to deal with. My handle didn't just appear, most all my stuff leaks oil. I'm getting used to it. Oilly

Got the cover off today in anticipation of the timing cover gasket set arriving tomorrow. Already have the double lipped seal from Ron RFJP. The gaskets appear to be dry, it seems the seal leaked more than the crank nut being loose.
