Finally decided on a name for my Jeep. Named after my first Jeep a 47 2A I had in Wyoming. The name came from a popular saying in the Malt-O-Meal commercial. "That's good stuff, Maynard." Trying to get it ready by May 17th for the Veterans Care Center parade in Salem, VA and then the Memorial Day Parade in DC and the D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA in the June 6th. The platform for my project as I got it. The chassis as it is now and it runs. Had it in the field for a test a couple of times already.

Did some work on it today. I had replaced part of the floor riser and passenger front fender well. The gauge thickness was too thin so I redid it (a do over) with thicker 20 ga steel instead of the 24 ga I used at first. Much better. What I first did. I made one from 24 ga steel. You can see the original bad one. Welded in. Better thicker replacement done today.

I'm not a big fan of naming Jeeps, but "Maynard" is perfect. "That's good stuff, Maynard." LOL!!

Got the driver side floor pan in place. Some minor trimming and it's ready for welding in tonight.

The floor panel is in and welds are ground down (not perfect but good enough). Set the old hat channels on to mark where the new ones go. I had some made in 8' lengths and made them to fit from there. New hat channels being welded in place. I use a metal dowl in place of the u-strap where the body to frame bolts go. I also welded up some of the many holes. (more than the whole US Deficite) and took care of some the rust in the body step.

That looks great! What are the special clamps that you used on the floor? Were they something you made or purchased? How do they work. Enquiring minds want to know!

I use them when welding panels together. The line the panels up flush and help to hold them in place. Harbor Freight: www.harborfreight.com/8-piece-butt-welding-clamps-60545.html#.Uy9x06hdXSg

Finished up the hat channels on the passenger side. Where the body mount bolts went I put in a dowl instead of the u-shaped metal piece the factory used. There was no wood in these hat channels.

On the drivers side I took more metal out of the floor as I did not have the factory indent that I wanted to keep. I also took a lot off the side panel as the step was pretty rusted and I am putting tool indents in.

High quality repairs, Zooke. Very inspiring. I don't want to take apart my tub, but I know I'll have to at some point. Maybe next year.

Got the drivers side riser off tonight. Trying to a do a little each night. So much bondo as the PO used this rather than to straighten out the body. I am rectifying this situation as I replace pieces.

Worked on the tool indents tonight. I have the front half and installed it. I will have to make the rear with some good tips from athawk11.

Eric, looks very nice. What are you using for steel? Where are you purchasing it? How are the indents coming along?

Using 18ga steel I get from a sheet metal shop. Very affordable. Going to work on the rear part of the indents once the floor is done. I needed that in place to finish them properly.

Got more done today. Drivers side floor panel installed and some hat channels. Made a mistake on this but it is easily corrected. See if anyone can find it. That is why the pic shows both sides.

I had clamped the passenger bottom hat channel on and it popped off. I picked it up reset it and welded it one. Only after I welded the second piece on and rechecked for the next hat channel piece did I notice the hole and captive nut was not where it was supposed to be. I had picked it up flipped. Oh well Cry easy fix) and on with the show.

Love your avatar. I really think this was one of Val's best parts as Doc Holliday. Lived near the "Hole In The Wall" in Wyoming. Was really a bid valley that you could only access by a ravine between rocks. Can see it from the highway near Douglas Wyoming. I am from Ft. Laramie Wyoming. The Old Fort. Not Laramie where the University is. Ft. Laramie had a POP of only 250. Now probably less.
