If my wife is driving the Deuce, I may decline to get in it. You'd have to be drunk to do that! I know she won't be able to turn that wheel on a sharp corner. Arm strong power steering unit installed!

We only drink at home after driving. No DUI's !!!!!!! It will wreck our fun for good. So, don't bring beer for lunch. It was sure fun in the old days----- Take your Jeeps for a shakedown drive. Listen to it. Any unusal noises, check it out. Bugsey was squeaking. Sure enough, LR wheel. With a WW2 Jeep, the brake drums are swedged to the lug nut studs. You have to pull the axles, unbend the lock tab washer, and pull the hub and bearings to get at the brakes. A pain. Yep OMIX ADA new shoes. One had broken off about 1/4 inch of end lining and was preparing to wipe things out. Not only did they put the long shoe on the wrong side, the linings were loose on the rivits!!!!!!! I tightened them up over at my vice with a pin and punch. Filed a new bevel on the lining, and re-installed. They look much better now. A few more fixes, and Bugsey will accompany us. Soon my friends, soon. Oilly

Pretty tough when there is only two motels. Flip a coin? Actually, the owners are really fixing it up. I think it will be fine. Lee, did they put you way, way in the back so you won't disturb anyone? Oil

Oil Oilleaker, that may be a problem I did not think of. The fan on the 2A is terrible loud, I drove it to town the other night and got a ticket from the town cop, he claimed I was Jake Braking in town and that's illeagle! ............

Just buy a 2400 HP Prat and Whitney radial engine with propeller, mount it on your Jeep, and you'll win the loudest fan award. Quit worrying.

Did more scouting on the XT 500 yesterday. My old highschool trail is still open. Marcott Plots Trail. I even stopped to look at the old Lost Soldier Springs I used to trail ride by. The trail has been closed for 35 years. Man does time change things. This location is where "Cookie" snapped his chain on his 125 Yamaha eduro. We were riding a snowmobile track in early spring, on top of snow with motorcycles. Right there where the spring crossed the road, as he was wide open spinning, he caught traction and pow. We physically dragged that motorcycle out to the main road and towed it back to town. There is no way I could do that today. Wish I had that physical stamina again. The springs are still flowing and there now is a small pool in the old road bed. The Forest Service has their brown No Motor vehicles beyond this point signs all over. I had to walk down there to see it. The good old days are gone. Glad I got to see them. Oilly

Moosey, you should read up on Custer's 1874 expedition into the Black Hills in June. The men's diarys are full of amazement in wonderland. The wild flowers were tall enough to pick from horseback. They had their Horse's heads all adorned with them. The cool fresh water in the mountain springs and brooks tasted sweet. The smells and aromas had them all gigling with joy. I'm absolutely sure that when they headed out of the Hills back to Bismark ND. where Fort Abraham Lincoln was, they probably cried. All they had was a scorched earth policy the Indians left ahead of them, alkali water or no water to drink, hot 90-100 degree weather, and little food. Some returned to the Hills after they got out of the cavalry. Others went on to die at the Little Big Horn. What's so cool, is all those feelings can be had by you today! We'll stand and look down where Deerfield Lake is today, and see and feel what Custer did when he camped right there below where you are standing!!!!!!! Castle Creek, Reynold's Prairie, Inyan Cara Mtn. Holy Cow, I better go load up my 45-70 Springfield and Single Action Army Colt 45! Remember, never let them capture you alive. They will torture, burn, and skin you alive. Why do you think they phrased it?------------save the last one for you! Signed The General Leaker

Just finished changing oil on the 2A, topping off all the boxes, grease ect!. I was looking over my oil pan as it leaks, discovered the gasket on the plug had exceeded it's service life. Not having a new one (really I do but cannot find them), I went to my spare oil pan collection, and the first one had a very nice nylon gasket . Hopefully that will quell the leak!, Also do not forget to lube your generator and dist bushings!. Lee

Wash behind the bumpers too. We don't want bumper infections getting started! A terrible thing to have happen. So, Hawky wants atomic Supersonic? This could be a epic event. Oilly

Crunch week:
1: spending a lot of time cleaning up the rental house down in town. Final walk-through is Thursday. Closing should be Friday. 2: Jeep Wrangler Tow rig: blown rear shock. Should arrive Friday night. I'll grease the chassis when I bolt on the shock Friday night after work. 3: JEEP WILLIS : drove it Saturday. Worked on it Sunday. A: Reused an NMO mount and a hole in the fender. Will use this for FRS/GMRS comms with a hand-held transceiver. B: Need to finish wiring up a 3/8-24 stud mount for the CB antenna. Will use a hand-held transceiver. C: painted the passenger seat frame and the windshield latches. D: worked on the hood paint. Looks rough. E: welded on a couple of rear tow points. F: Need to work on wiring/fuses/holes in muffler/ubolts and give up on cosmetics!
Really looking forward to the trip!

Flash! Another road closure for those staying at The Iron horse Inn. The overpass over the railroad tracks in Whitewood is now permanently closed. You'll need to use the detour which simply parallels the overpass. You go between A&J's and the overpass, under the overpass, and out on Hale Drive. This is all between Bullwackers Saloon and The Iron Horse Inn. Sorry, not my doing. John
