I am sitting here looking at this abomination that only a demented/genius Bubba would dream up for the purpose it was put to. This I need to see!

Not NOS...it was before I used it. I do believe that it was a Carter experimental piece. Figured only Scout could appreciate it. You other yahoos would have chucked it in the junk drawer.

Next project...working on the parking brake. I thought I would proceed down the road of making my own cable that way I could reuse my original handle. I got confused-FAST. My plan was to keep it some what original looking, so buying a repro cable from Ron wasn't the route. Where I stumbled in confusion is what exactly did the original cable look like?
There might have been two different varieties in appearance, an early war that looks like a thin dis metered conduit for cables and a late war that is a wire wrapped hollow cored cable. The latter version is most likely what I need since I'm dealing with a '45.
I'm not talking about internal vs external brake systems. For the record, all Fords were presumed external.
Well, my road block came as such that I can't source the materials. I found stuff to make the early version, but the still the diameter of the conduit was going to be slightly too wide. So, in effect, it still wouldn't be right and materials plus shipping would cost more than the early version repro (which still isn't spot on correct).
Out of frustration, I settled for the early version repro while I sit back and rethink my strategy and continue to scour the inter web lands.
Oilly was super awesome and sent me my loose screw. I removed the cable from the repro handle and plugged it into my original handle. Routed it through, over and under everything. It has been painstakingly clipped at the to and bottom...I still have to clip it at the bell housing. What a PITA the end clips are! We're yours sucky to do, Oilly?
Next on the list is to replace my spring on the underside that retracts the cable. I believe it to be too big. Then, I'll go about adjusting the brake.
The fine tuning steps will have to wait. I'm going on a short road trip later today.
By the way...the repro handle that came with the cable...the shaft is solid steel...not a hollow tube like the originals.

The ends stopped me on the black plastic covered repro. with the solid ratcheting tube. I took the spiral rivots out of the original handle and re-installed it with the F mark, on the solid one. Then I sawed the aluminum crimped cable ends off. Do not cut the inner strands with the saw!!!!!!!!! It all went together and works fine now. You need that clip on the bell housing. It's very close to the front drive shaft. Why they made it all one unit originally is a mystery. Must have had complaints, because the 2A has a ball end that fits a ball hole in the ratchet tube now. I've seen the NOS cable on ebay for sale, but it has the wrong ends. Adjusting that bogus external band is a treat as well. You hit the best of all worlds with it until you can turn the rear driveshaft by hand. Then go out and burn it in. POS design. Oilly

I'm missing most of the external type for mine, so eventually when I get to needing the brake if I ever get this thing moving again, I will basically need the whole kit. Not too terribly long ago I tried to find a source for the whole thing, but I turned nothing up. Does RFJP or any others sell a full replacement kit? As it turns out, my handle/cable might still work - need the parts I'm missing to see for sure!

Hey Moosey, I stumbled upon something in my garage that might work for your eBrake. Forgot to mention it, but figured I best do so before I forgot!

Yep. It's a giant sign with a huge honkin middle finger on it. NO, Bo, the brake cables from Dopey, if you can refab either to work with your eBrake, you're welcome to them. Hell, I already hacked off his handles and violated him thirty-seven ways to Sunday ... what's some missing cable? I'm still looking for the spare parts I MEANT to keep ...
