Another toy. I think you'll find out that those poor little Jeeps are no match for heavy snow. My MB was plowed to death. Shot transmission, front and rear diffs, bent frame, wow is snow hard on them. The '49 sounds like it's running great. Go get em Ryan! Oilly

I'm thinking at the very least I'll need a good set of tire chains and will need to plow frequently if I have any chance of keeping ahead of the big storms.....unlike your Chewy where you can wait until the entire blizzard is over before even making your first pass!!

You need to save the plow work for that mighty tracked beast that lurks somewhere on your property.
As always, your threads are funny reads. My one question is: did I miss something about the M38? Are you selling it? That might be more than one question. Sorry for the interegation.

I have a completely different view on the plowing with a Jeep. I loved that video Ryan. Grandpa had nearly the same set up. I sold the Hi-Lo pump to a gentleman in Belgium, and the heavy duty spring bracket to a gentleman in Germany. The Meyers plow was sold to a gentleman in Scotia NY. Grandpa had a plow route for over 30 years. There was a simple rod that was connected through the firewall to operate the lever you are moving with your hand. I kept that and the Yellow flashing light.

Fresh powder and cold snow is fine. Spring blizzards and snow you can walk on------------not for a Jeep. I fought snow for 30 years because I had to get through it. Snow is a 4 letter word. There is a science to plowing snow. The first pass needs to be put way far out of the way if more is expected. It sits there and thaws and then freezes. Along comes Willy and bang-------sudden stop. Bend time. The next thing you learn is forward, then back, over and over. The pinion nut works loose. Then you get a oil seal leak. The whole differential takes it in the shorts. Now enter the blower. A fine piece of design. You pick up the snow and blow it up into the air. The wind takes it away. No mountainous ridge anymore to deal with. No more snow drifting in behind it , to the height of the peaks. I have many tales to tell. In the end, it just seems to always be in the way. You think you got it figured out, and then the wind shifts around on you 180 degrees. How' this for "drifting"? Sorry Ryan I get all worked up over snow. My pure joy is kicking the ass out of snow with Chewy. Frantic laughing of joy. Others------they just close up and go south. When they ask you what a snow shovel is, you've arrived at your location. Oilly

I side with Haines on snow plowing!...... My dad plowed for many years with a 2A, 3A and an international scout and had very few problems, he never chained the font, and always told me to push the clutch in when you get to a hard bank, your not operating a D8..... Perhaps there were exceptions. On the other hand my old friend Ray plowed with a 74 K20 Chev, he had nothing but trouble as he thought he had a D8, LOL.

I plowed today!!!!!!!! Used my little orange friend. 2-3 inches. Good practice. I used to plow the office with a 1/2 ton Chevy 4 wheel Drive. Worked fine, but it too suffered the loose pinion problem. How do you see out of a Jeep after the snow melts off your boots? Must take the top off and put the windshield down huh?

Why-o-why did you not ask here for a pump ?, I have several!....... I may have another valve for the old pump as well if you want to fix it up............. The hole in the dash for the pump controll Rod looks to be the spot for the original ignition switch ?.......... BTW, nice looking rig!

Works great. Ryan's vintage plowing service. Call the Jeep hotline for service. Will work/trade for Jeeps and parts. If you move to the leeward side of the Great Lakes, you can capitalize on Lake Effect snow. You might need Chewy to round out your service. Jeep for up to 5-6 inches. Scat Buggy for 2-3 feet. Over 3 feet, up to 10 feet, Chewy time. Oilly

Lee - If you have a check valve (or entire valve assembly?) available for sale I might be interested. The rest of the pump I trashed seems to be in good shape (although the pulley shaft has more end-play than the recently acquired eBay pump...) so I wouldn't mind fixing it and having it on the shelf as a spare. Hold off through the weekend, however, as I may be going to look at a collection of old Jeep parts for sale and I may score one there. Oilly - What the heck is the SCAT BUGGY??

First step: Do this when the wife is not home. Second step: Do this when you know the wife won't be home for several hours allowing ample time to air everything out. Third Step: Roll Jeep as far back as possible ensuring tailpipe is as close to the outside as possible but never stray from Steps 1 & 2. Now that I have a plowing 3A there is a sale loosely pending on the SCAT BUGGY. I may or may not have it long enough to actually push snow with it

What's a good running scat buggy go for ?. There is an orange one not far from Oilleakers place, not really sure why it's not at his place, but never asked!....... I have a parts Hi-Lo pump. I will send you the valve off the top, it worked when it last was used, LOL.

I know I'm sick. If it has oil, gas, and is mechanical, I'm in. Been this way since I was born. I used to sit in the running mailman's Cushman Truckster while he went door to door in Cedar Rapids Iowa as a kid. Loved the smells and sounds. My neighbor, older boy, accross the street built a briggs powered mini bike. I was smitten. Same guy built a fake rifle with plumbers pipe. I was over there one day and he had me put a firecracker in the barrel muzzle. He said light it. I did. Then he shoulderd it and aimed it at the poor mailman and shouted hey you! bang! I didn't hang with him after that. Not my idea of fun. Scat Buggy is cool. I just don't care for snow. A warm shop is my snow idea. Too many years pulling a propane delivery hose through it and fighting it all day long every day. I suspect Lee is tired of twisting wrenches all day too. Building your own is OK, but having someone complain to you isn't. Hey----------we are drifting again. Where's Ryan?
