Ryan my offer to help restore any parts stands... Greetings from Sparkle City ! Sounds good. This hulk I dragged home today can be boxed up and shipped to you over the weekend. If you can have it back to me and driveable for the local July 4th parade that would be great. I'll owe you one....

Drivers side, top, directly behind the shock mount and before the motor mount. I hope it matches the engine! Just out of curiosity, does the transmission case say GPW on the side? I'm still mourning the loss of mine.... What's crazy guys, is that I can think of 2 WW2 jeeps that he hasn't struck the deal on, yet! Or did you end up getting that MB? Hell, I seriously can't keep these carnival acts straight! I need to go back and re read this thread. He told me what he does. I used to do it once upon a time. Looking back, that's the time period that I hauled home the most rusted up jeep and truck stuff. But I was amateur hour compared to what this dude is doing!

I need to go back and re read this thread. That MB has disappeared from Craiglist so I assume it has been sold. The GPW I found Wednesday night rotting in a field is still there. I tracked down someone who claims semi-ownership of it and I made an offer. No word back yet. Just yesterday I followed another lead on yet another GPW but my message has not been returned. That would make two confirmed discoveries of GPW's this week and a third one rumored but not confirmed. I have brought one of the three home. Not bad odds but I'd like to improve them In an hour from now I'll be pawing through a pile of supposed 2A parts I tracked down. Updates to follow. Oh yeah, I'm a real estate broker and property manager in my spare time.....

And the madness continues. Just brought home a load of early 2A parts. There was also a complete rolling chassis but I left it behind simply because I did not want to deal with it. I took all the eBay gold though. You guys may need to stage an intervention if I can't get this under control....

You know I'm drooling over the carb and pump (hope it's not a clone!). Likewise the lug wrench. OK. Please give me a price.

I went and checked out another one tonight. 2A/3A/M38 trainwreck. Frame is cut, tub is total garbage, windshield is cracked, gas tank is missing, oil is sludge, brakes are frozen and it doesn't run (although it did turn over when I jumped it briefly from my M38 directly to the starter). Complete junk...except for this - an MB motor(!). Seller inherited this so doesn't know much about Jeeps but has huge emotional attachment. At this point we are miles apart on price but this was a difficult one to walk away from. I want that motor!!

This must be the "busy season". What happens up there...the snow is so deep and hangs out for so long, people forget what they have parked in their yards?
You are picking up right where you left off! I miss the thrilling feeling of that anticipation of finding jewels. It's been awhile since I've gone out and looked at rusty stuff sitting in a field.

What's a running MB motor worth anyways? I've sold a couple GPW motors but never an MB. Can't seem to find much online. Yes, I'm trying to justify buying this thing.

I would guesstimate that in running takeout condition, low end $750ish? Maybe $1000. Rebuilt, they are much higher, obviously. They are similar in value to the GPWs. Although the MB didn't have matching serial numbers, those guys like to get engines in the correct date range. As soon as those South Dakota yahoos wake up, they can have a meeting of the minds and give you a really good price.

It's still a l head engine with all the same problems. Running is better, compression check? Is it cracked?, etc. It's still rarer than a ribbed head and is worth more. Very hard to tell without pulling the head. The carb looked good. Is it a 539s? If it runs and blows blue smoke---------rattles, low oil pressure, it could be a worn out pile. Use your gut feelings. I appreciate the advice. I guess for now I will stick to my price. Either the seller will come down to earth or I will try and keep tabs on whoever buys it. With a little luck they'll want to finish out the Bubba project by dropping a V8 in there and have no use for a tired old 4-cyl.

You are my favorite poster. Something new to see all the time. Moosey's knees are shaking. Looks like another Goat Coach. BTC? I don't see a tag on the front panel. Beat but little rust. Oil

Oil The tag is long gone but you can see where it once was. Definitely a T3-C but I don't know what year. People wiser than me can ID them from spring hangers and the tailgate area but I'm not that smart.
