I assure you that it is not....It kind of concerns me sometimes. I have said from the beginning that I am no expert, just a man trying to restore his Grandfathers Jeep.
What also bothers me is that the comments are rare. My Homeboys always have something to say, but the people viewing do not. HMMMMMM.
No worries though, I do the best that I can, I am always whole hearted in what I attempt to do. Go hard, or don't go at all!
Moose, you and I have that "Special " thing where as we have been ribbing each other for so long. I love it!!!
Great Team for the SCFFC Patrol!
Now lets see that Weapons Carrier Joker! Remember that? ;D ;D ;D

Lets start with the front, I have a dana 27. The original ring and pinion are good, no chips or wear, however, my corncern right now is the shims, no pun intended on the steering knuckles. Manual says only on top of the king pins....I have shims on top and bottom.....

well you may want to consider buying some new ones first off. old ones may be crushed if they are aluminum and not steel if they are steel then you are good to reuse them.

also the earlier axles had shims under the lower kingpin, the later axles that part was built up to not need shims under the bottom.

Haines...not sure if the specs/tolerances are the same for the CJ2A and the WW2 front axles, but this will show you what I had to do to get my shims right... jeeperbuythedozen.blogspot.com/2012/03/axle-front-completed.htmlI think I used a gizmo that weighs fish. Scroll down a few pictures and you'll see it in use. Maybe it helps. The army manual was pretty direct in describing the rebuild process.

Pinion shimmmmmmmmms (LOL), are not ment to be handled by novice restoration specialists, if you have lost track of things in the diff area, you my friend have opened pandoras box!, setting pinion depth is a very critical setting requiring special tools to do so, I avoid this area and if work is needed it's off to a shop that does this. Hello! I was just thinking of posting a video of that Weapons Carrier. I've got most of the front clip back together AND finally managed to get it started...again...after replacing the water distribution tube behind the pump...and cleaning/repainting the cab forward. At first she wouldn't start, but my G503 JEEP! Manual did the trouble shooting for me: dizzy cap and rotor kaput. Anyhow, I've got a video of the engine a-purring!
Time to gets my kicks across the river of dreams!

Start a thread Sir Turocy. a Weapons Carrier most qualifies in my book as a Big Flat Fender. You are the Man....Is it possible that you could do the Mount Pleasant Christmas Parade? I know it is away off, but that rig could carry a whole bunch of JROTC Air Force Cadets. Warren would be most proud of you...of this I know. As much as we poke fun at each other, I know your Passion. That is our connection....how perfect.

Back to the build, ....Axles are on the stand waiting for some new Timken Bearings.. Sir Leemeister, just to ease your pain, I know you worry about me . I tagged and bagged every part that came off the axles, as well as made recorded measurements. Axle housing has been sandblasted, primed and painted. I may jump a little from the axle subject...I have 5 projects going at once

Only five tasks at once, you say. What a lightweight. Come to Texas where we will show you how to truly multitask. 5 Cub cadets, 20 jeeps, a pickup or two, along with mowing the grass now that it is growing like weeds. (Did I mention I am in Michigan while I do all this?)

Going to do some photos, and bouncing around. My funds are low, so I keep busy doing things that don't cost more than elbow grease. Keep at it.....
