Ok, I'mmmmmmm back!.......Got a whiney text from HG today, suspense is killing him . Left the house at 4 am, and am currently in Brush, Colorado!. All is well, not impressed with eastern CO. I'm not mr. clean, but a scrub brush and some Lysol with instructions would go a long way! . Story later in the "Vent area". And Haines I drive a Dodge not the starship enterprise, takes a while to get to Colorado. Looks like 100 miles to Denver in the am, we will do some sight seeing/visiting and be in BV late afternoon. North eastern Nebraska is a beautiful place, west of Sioux City, IA, There is a town of WiLLIS, bout shit myself , had to do a 180 and take a picture Had it been dark, the sign may of been missing Lee

We are in BV, Jeep and trailer are spotted at the TDR, and will unload in the morning. I met Mike and the "Stuff", everyone else was sleeping. Tomorrow will be a long day Mike said. Diana has been Ill and will not go so I have an open seat (Haines/Gary/Tallboots). I was able to spend a couple hours in Conifer with a childhood friend I have not seen in 40 years, well worth the trip just for that. It amazes me how people do not change! , just get taller Diana and I had lunch in Conifer. The turkey club was outstanding as well as the coleslaw with dried cranberries! Here is a shot of Rudycons back yard! Here is a shot of Willis Nebraska Lee

Right on, Lee. You were indeed very close. My backyard is 5 miles NE of the photo.
I worked on the stude-a-Willys tonight. Didn't add to the shroud.
Tomorrow I'll start packing and hitch up. Maybe make it by noon?

Load-out complete.
I'm rolling out in a few minutes. I'll be going slowly with plenty of stops on the way to check wheel bearings and stuff.
See y'all this afternoon/evening!

Made it safely to chalk creek campground.
Found the thirsty dirt ranch. Everyone is still out on the trail
Studebaker overheats at 210 on the highway.
That's not good.
Will re-try the ranch in a couple of hours.

Are you driving it over there? It's not boiling till 212*, and someone said that a 4lb radiator cap ups the boiling point 8* to about 220*! But I'd check that out with the boy's at Mike's. I'd believe them first!! Chuck

Today was awesome!..........There are no words or photographs that can describe this event! , it must be seen with your own eyes . Haines you missed out on one of the best bullshit sessions ever, this evening . Oilleakers bride made us hot buttered rums to wash down the supersonic. Also Bruce said he had an empty seat today and missed the Haines as he never shuts up . Great bunch of people. I drove on the roughest piece of ground ever today , a good 5 miles of low/low and an occasional low/low/od, brakes are not needed as you never go fast enough . We went over two passes and crossed the continental divide twice. Diana did not go today but will tomorrow, she is feeling fine now. She would have had a stroke today anyway, not a beginners experience. Tomorrow we go up Mt. Princeton. My Jeep ran perfect and took the abuse with no issues. I am dumbfounded as to why I did not bottom out or get hung up on rocks. I did have one cobble roll under the skidplate and that was it. Hawkrige and Oilleaker also had fine running Jeeps, both beautiful machines, but need overdrives . Tired going to bed, Lee

Lee, Oily, Tim......just so you know that I haven't forgot...I'm looking west and giving you the Texas "salute" LOL!!! Noted, and thank you!, we will return the salute tomorrow from Aspen ridge Another great day , We went up MT. Princeton today, not as rough as yesterday but a steeper climb with tight switchbacks. I followed Oilleaker up and down to see how the master does it! . After 20 miles of low range I think I am just as good as he is . Diana went with today as well . No whining at all till the top, the last climb is short but a very high pucker factor that produced a small bit of blue language from the passenger seat . I think there may be finger prints pressed into the steel toob of my seat frame where she was hanging on, very funny but she did enjoy the experience and that is good. Also Rudycon was there today with studowillis, a very interesting Jeep. He made the climb to MT. Princeton with no Issues and no overheating. He will have a very nice Jeep after he gets a few bugs sorted out, the body is very nice and whoever installed the engine did a very nice job of it. Also was treated to dinner this evening by Sir Hawkridge (Thanks Tim) good time as well . Lee

I slept 12 hours last night . Much to post on this topic (FCT), but I will start with this..........The Flatfender Jeep............. Often bitched at for it's 5.38-1 gear ratio, and an under square engine with less than stellar power............... All out the window in the mountains . Totally in it's element there . Newer rigs, High HP, big tires, ect, and an old stock Will-IS will stick it to them , and that's with ND tires. Lee

Haines, I should not have to tell, you know why!................ The gearing, torque, and it's engine that has a stroke longer than it's bore is wide give a huge advantage in the mountains, the WiLL-IS Jeep was made for this. Plenty of power to climb, no brakes needed down hill as the engine brakes for you...... Perfection . Lee

The ND tire was also a great performer, many ran them, and I seen no reason not too. The 235-75-R15's I ran worked great and offered a cushy ride. Lee

Thanks to Sir lee and all for this report. I was off on my altitude where the KRT picture was taken on Princeton. My better half corrected me----12,400 feet. The Go Devil ran amazingly well. NDT's didn't let us down. You don't need over drive unless racing Lee. Sir Hawkridge and Bruce W. and Rudy, and Jeff and Lee were all in attendance. I'm waiting to see all the pictures my wife took. I stopped at the avalanche slide that you see from the TDR and had my wife stand up and take two pictures from the seat of the Jeep. One up, and one down. She was quite nervous doing it since it's 4000 feet down and 2000 feet up. You could see the fresh rocks accross the trail (not road) that the snow moves accross each winter. Those lofty heavenly mountain tops are my favorite places there. Rarely duplicated anywhere. I'm still in awe. Oilly
