Lee is right though, I have the pedal to the metal, but I fear Whitey will not be ready for the FCT 2013. Maybe for the FCT 2014, where it sounds as if we are going to have a REAL A-Kickin Time!! Tim of coarse I am right, I know stuff , BIG party next year ;D. I have a radiator, shipping would be a killer, but keep it in mind if you cannot find one, never mind I may have a really cheap way to get it to you. Lee

You're killing me Lee. How is it, that everything I need resides in the fine state of Minnesota? And in your workshop? What do you want for the rad? Trade? Side mount for your bottom mount? Side mount and PTO shifter for your bottom mount? Side mount, PTO, + cash? Side mount, PTO, cash, and a case of Coors Light? ;D Tim

I'm kinda top heavy on pto's and side mounts and bottom mounts right now. I will look over my radiators this weekend. I have a good one I took out of my 2A as I installed a recored 3 row in the 2A but I might keep it as it was new with my Jeep, I think I have a couple others to pick from, will check them. I have a cousin in Evergreen CO. my aunt & uncle go to see several times a year I can have them take it to her place and you could pick it up there if your not in a hurry. Lee

Lee, I am beginning to think I should 'Dedicate' this 3A to you. 90% of what's missing has come from you !! I'm in no hurry. Whitey will not be ready for the FCT 2013. Tim

Tim I do not think all the parts are in Minnesota, seems all the Willys entousiast's in Colorado are collectors as well,,,,,,,,,,and collectors "NEVER" sell anything, I used to be a collector as well but have come to the realization that I will never use all this stuff so it's time to go, so I will try to focus on my projects when time permits. Tim It's a lot closer to my house to help me ;D. The fact is the great distance that separates most of us is in most cases is overcome with a computer and the very talented people of the Jeep world, it allows us to reference one anothers projects and overcome difficulties we encounter, so keep posting your great work Tim Lee

Tim, I have found a ride to Denver for a Radiator, in November. The computer guy for the Red Bull HMVA, John, travels to Denver for work several times a year and he offered to take it with him on his next visit. I have 2 available, bolth are in decent shape and hold coolant and I would not worry of either one, BUT, the distance that separates us worries me if there is a problem, I will cap and pressure check either one, PM me if you are still interested. Lee, definately interested. Thanks for your efforts.
HG's visit and the FCT 2013 event have put a bit of a stall on the Whitey project. I will get back to it shorty, but first, I need to repair the damage to ODie. The damage was caused by a tight trail, a fast pace, and an errant schrub. Nice full length gash along the driver side. I just can't live with it.
I've got it prepped for a re-paint. Already ordered new stencils. Just need to mask off the rest of the Willys, and shoot some paint. ODie should be back in the game shortly.
Tim

Okay, I’m back in the game and ready to offer a short update. Hopefully folks don't mind that I duplicate the same post at the 3A. It’s been a while. With preparation for out of town guests…(see Haines Garage) and the Fall Colors Tour, my days have been pretty full. Once back from the FCT, I needed to clean ODie, and fix a bad scratch along the entire length of the driver side. It was damage I just wasn’t going to be able to live with. The paint is curing, so I had some time to move back over to Whitey. In my last post, I had taken Whitey down to the frame. This is when I discovered this Willys must have had a run in with a much larger object. At the front end, the two long frame rails looked like someone just knocked over a set of dominos. It looked something like this… \___\. The PO had done a very sloppy repair, essentially locking the frame into this position. The front tube shaped cross member was welded back in with the bell crank mount and radiator mounting tabs pointing down hill. Again, I’m not going for a show winner here, but this is for my wife. She deserves to have decent steering and a Willys that will not experience Death Wobble. To make the repair, I had to cut out the front cross member. This is not an easy task if you were going to pull it out of a perfect frame. Imagine how hard it would be to pull it out of a frame with a horrible welding repair job. It took all weekend for me to get to this point… Giving up on this frame had crossed my mind a half dozen times, but everything rear of the engine mounts is in such good condition. I just couldn’t let this beat me. While I have this out, I will be able to clean up the area, prime inside the tube and patch up some bad spots. All in all, I think it will turn out fine. These are just the frustrating things that turn a one year build into two. Tim
