Went to see old Grandad today, he let me have this.... The story goes that Grandad bought it from a fellow needing money back in the Fifties, he never used it. Dad said he remembers him firing it up in a barrel a few times, and that's it. From what little I've researched, it's a 5.4 hp evinrude zephyr from the late 40's. Not worth a lot on the collectors market. But we'll see if she runs!! Gotta find some non ethanol gas though..

That belongs on a wooden type row boat for fishing in a Northern Minnesota lake. You'll need to wear a red flannel shirt with waders on and a hat with flyfishing gear on it. Cool! John

"Dat's a peach 'dare Ollie!" It would look nice on a wooden rowboat up north. Way better than hanging on the wall of a red robin in southern california or something.
Friend of mine had me up to her parent's summer cabin in Hayward Wisconson. Her brother dragged up an old boat some retired doctor gave him. I put a tune on the ol' Johnson (not as old as your motor there) and got 'er running. We found a pair of wooden water skies nailed to the side of a shed and a rope and we ski'd behind that old boat. (Barely!) I bet it was a 40 HP. The next day we went to the hardware store and got enough letters to name the boat for her brother. "UTE IN DA BOOT" (Regional pronounciation of "out in the boat.") I betcha that boat still sports those letters. Still lots of red plaid and waders up there.
As a kid in Northern Michigan, I drove a boat to work because I wasn't old enough to drive a car legally.

I try to go by and check on him once a week or so. It's all county roads between his house and mine, it makes for a pleasant cruise in the willys!

Where to find non-ethanol gasoline: pure-gas.org/Works for me here in Colorado. I haul real gasoline up from town 5 gallons at a time to my house for the willys and the chainsaw and the snowblower...

If you sink her, you can drive down and get it with your M38 equiped with a long snorkel and exhaust! Might have to chain up for the mud and wear your scuba outfit. No flotation built into those trailers! When they sink, they sink like a stone. You got guts. I'd like to watch it sometime, but not ride. Long cold winters and putting huge conduits under rivers makes for a boring time in MN. A trip around the lake in a Jeep trailer------------only for the Captain! Oil

Good God Oilleaker! , the trailers were made to float 1/4 ton of war goodies . They are quite stable in the water, the M416 more so. Dumb fun at it's finest . Lee
