As my parents taught me, you can do anything you put your mind to. They never stopped me from trying to do something and encouraged me to try anything. Great Parents. Mom is still here but I do miss my Dad dearly. Though he is with me in everything I do because he taught me the will to do so. I will be here for anything you need HG. Just let me know how I may help. Just PM me sometime for my PH #. Fantastic statement..and I will..you can count on it. However, my mouth runs like a motor boat..for warned...

Sealed all the seams, welds and welded holes with seam sealer. Then after it had dried for a couple of days I am starting the Red Oxide primer in preparation for the OD paint. Then I can set it on the frame and work on the sides and inside of the tub.

What primer are you using? And I can't wait until mine looks like that.

Majik Primer from Tractor Supply. Took a small break to take the transmission out of the Geo Metro. I died at work and had to get it towed home 47 miles. $150 but the insurance pays me back $100. Then after I got it out a did a little more on the tub. Somewhere amidst all this work I think I'll get some sleep. Just got find out where I put it.

One more thing my friend, could you also explain seam sealer..

Seam sealer is used on vehicles where ever seams are joined to make a waterproof seal. It does not harden and stays flexible and above all is paintable. Most expensive autos from the 40s used it. The jeep did not. I see where jeep could have used it to be more lasting and waterproof. Hence I am using it to help seal welds and seams that would otherwise attract dirt, dust, salt and continue to eat away at all your hard work.

I get it from a auto paint supply store. It comes in a tube you can put in a caulking gun. You can also get it for application by brush as well.

More tub work done today. Finished up a few weld spots that needed attention and painted the underside so it can be mounted on the chassis hopefully tomorrow.

Shot a coat of OD on the tool indents to see how they would look. Still will need a little touch up after the tub is on. And got a coat of primer on the grill. It is a little pitted but not going to change that.

Well today was the day to put the body on. I thought of many ways short of lifting with what I had and nothing was going to work. We don't know anyone close and it was Mother's Day. Julie said she would come out and try to lift it on. We picked it up but she couldn't lift it up high enough being a few inches shorter than me. Wink So she suggested steps to walk it up. That worked perfect. One it went and real easy I might add. Thanks Sweetheart! On one body mount hole was off by about 3/8 of an inch. Drilled it out to the mounting plate. All bolted down now.

Got two weeks to have driveable semblance of a Jeep for the ceremonies at The National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA. Feeling a little overwhelmed at the moment. Need to take a deep breath and calm down. I can do this. I can do this. Now I need to make it happen.

You've got this! You'll get it done.
I was sooooooo close to going to Bedford with my reenacting group this year. A few guys went last year, but with June being the 70th and all...well, I decided it was just too far out of my reach. I'm sorry I'll miss you and Maynard's big debut!

Need all the encouragement I can get. Worked on a front fender today. Think I picked the best one to repair. Lots cheaper than buying one but does take time. Will post picks hopefully tomorrow. Filled in lots of drilled holes. Dollied back some dents and bends and need to do a filler where the support goes. Then on to the other fender.

Good work, Zooke! Inspiring progress for sure. Overwhelmed: My list of Willys projects is so long I don't even bother to document it at this point. Before each wheelin' trip to Moab, I make a prioritized list of things I "need" to do. I never get to the bottom of the list! That's OK. As long as I do the important stuff on the top of the list, the stuff at the bottom turns out to be unimportant by the end of each successful wheelin' trip.

Been working on it off and on. Lost three days this weekend do to car repairs and yard work Will lose some this weekend as I will be in DC for Memorial Day parades, wreath ceremonies and such for our vets. But this has to be done for the D-Day National Memorial in Bedford, VA as I have several WWII vets that are wanting a ride. So some very late hours are in store.
Had to redo this fender. The top was quite knackered and found about a couple of pounds of led in it. So I cut the top off a salvage fender and welded it on. A couple of tack left and it is good to go. Picture hopefully tomorrow of the finished product.

I want to tell you Sir Eric that it impresses me that you have such purpose behind your builds. I have seen the twinkle in many a vets eye when they see these old jeeps, When you attend these functions, I hope that you will share pics and stories here.

Thanks HG. The fender is on adjusted now with the new top. Set the MB hood on to see how it looks with both fenders. The passenger side fender needs a couple of adjustments and one weld. Then back off to prime and paint.
