No difference between my gpw or mb. She's just pissed that she has to walk through the rain to get in her car while the jeeps hibernate in the garage.

Brake fluid does indeed have paint removing abilities! Funny how air through a line will whip it around to a different direction you originally pointed it. I once was walking down Broadway St. in Denver Colo. and stopped at a fenced in specialty car lot. As I was looking at the expensive lineup I noticed funny looking blobs on the hoods. Someone had thrown paint stripper over the fence. I left pronto! Oil

The reason for the "F" script parts is simple. Henry Ford was a genius who could see ahead of his time. He realized that the GPW was an inferior vehicle that would never hack it off-road like an actual jeep so Henry decided to go after the "trailer queen" market. He was able to foresee that if he put an "F" script on all his parts, it would drive up their value. In the future, collectors would fight over them, spend ridiculous sums of money for them, and then baby them for the rest of their days thereby increasing the GPW's collectability and at the same time, hide its inadequacies on the trail. BRILLIANT I tell you!

Have you seen what F script bolts sell for on ebay? They have lost their minds. Oil Gonna Piss off the Wife This is definitely what GPW means!! I was on ebay watching a sale of F script bolts, the guy had a few hundred of assorted size of bolts. His high bid with 3 days left was $300.00 so about that time my wife walks up and say $300.00 for all those bolts not bad. What are you going to bid? I said I am going to offer $1500.00. Man o Man you think I forgot to put down the toilet seat. Are you nuts? $1500.00 for those bolts. No matter how hard I tried to explain its for the GPW. I even told her it would make the Jeep worth more. To her relief they sold for $3000.00 I was just a little short, and my wife thinks I am nuts. I happy she didn't see what I paid for the transmission.

Might as well buy the Willys MA for 85,000.00 and save some bucks! Or General Eisenhower's Jeep for 750,000.00. I like my 1400.00 '48 2A and it will go where those other ones will. I can set my beer on the hood and lean on it. I still want a GPW though. Just can't find one in a ranchers draw or barn that grandpa bought in '46-------------YET! Oil

One account of the origin of the term "jeep" begins when the prototypes were being proven at military bases. The term "jeep" was used by Army mechanics for any untried or untested vehicles.[8]
Although most likely due to a bastardization of the acronym "GP" used to designate the vehicle, another likely factor in the popularization of the jeep name came from the fact that the vehicle made quite an impression on soldiers at the time, so much so that they informally named it after Eugene the Jeep, a character in the Popeye comic strip and cartoons created by E. C. Segar as early as mid-March 1936. Eugene the Jeep was Popeye's "jungle pet" and was "small, able to move between dimensions and could solve seemingly impossible problems."
In early 1941, Willys-Overland staged a press event in Washington, D.C., having the car demonstrate its prowess by driving up the Capitol steps. Irving "Red" Hausmann, a test driver on the Willys development team who had accompanied the car for its testing at Camp Holabird, had heard soldiers there referring to it as a jeep. He was enlisted to go to the event and give a demonstration ride to a group of dignitaries, including Katherine Hillyer, a reporter for the Washington Daily News. When asked by the reporter, Hausmann said "it's a Jeep". Hillyer's article appeared in the newspaper on February 20, 1941, with a photo showing a jeep going up the Capitol steps and a caption including the term 'jeep'. This is believed to be the most likely cause of the term being fixed in public awareness. Even though Hausmann did not create or invent the word Jeep, he very well could be the one most responsible for its first news media usage.
