Other than I'm quite favorable of my beat up 3A, if I was going to have another flatty to drive and use, it would be the 3B! Still has flatfenders, still has basically the same four banger I love, but with more ponies!
If I was going to have a parade jeep, so to speak, M38!

The A1 is a flat fender for sure. Some would argue that it's not a jeep, but then I suppose you would have to remove GPW from the poll.

LOL, all true, but the GPW had a Will-is engine, Ford engineering had many improvements over the Willys design, like the sheetmetal grill. The M-151 series had Ford engines, modified Industrial engines from what I have read.........................Also the grill slots are horizontal . Maybe Haines will add it to the poll. I cant vote anyway as I used my votes on the 3B and the GPW . Lee

..... Please. Ford competed against Willys and lost. It wasn't mono e mono either because if it would have even been close to a tie, ford would have won the contract as they were the strong-arm of the three with power and influence. All three had the same power train and suspension. I would have to agree with the army and say that the better engine trumps sheet metal designs and flip up head lights ...... no? The mutt however, is revolutionary.
I must not know how to vote or something. My tablet says the poll is closed.

All of the above had it's place in history, and should be preserved and honor the men and women who used them and the engineers who designed them. And the American worker who made them! Lee

Bantam 1500 prototypes, Willys 1500 prototypes, Ford 4000+ prototypes . I do not know the history of the Mutt well enough to argue its +/- , It was a unique vehicle with a suspension not common for the times. Lee

It's interesting just how many Mutt Jeep parts I run into. Went to Edgemont to buy 4 brand new in the crate 4 cylinder Jeep engines. He wanted 400 bucks each and they were indeed crated Gov't engines. All M151 engines. The guy thought they were WW2 engines. Hey, they were green! The dumb attack was a fellow I knew had a perfect titled Mutt with top etc. and a set of working radios for sale for 6 grand. I though it was ugly. Duh. It's worth twice that now. Anyone drive one of these and how are they? They still turn up from time to time and I don't have one--------------yet! Don't tell my wife though. Oil

I drove them. Drove them a lot! Drove them hard and fast as any self-respecting 20-year-old would. I never turned one over, nor even almost. And these were the A1 model, the ones that were supposed to be notorious, the ones that started all the fuss. Of course, it could be done. When I reported in at A Trp, 1/3 ACR, the CO asked if I wanted to be his driver, and told me that the last guy turned the jeep (yes, jeep, I never heard the term MUTT until after I got out) over on top of him. I had repairs to make. I always felt that it was no more unstable than any other 4WD or even a 2WD pickup, it was just harder to tell when it was getting ready to go, and a lot of guys pushed it too far. When it was pushed over the limit, it WENT! I saw several wrecked M151's and lost a couple of friends who were chasing jackrabbits at Yakima. I always hoped to have one, and would love to have one now. BW

I won, and the M38 is King. That's my final answer. You can go back and try and get the CJ2A to win, possibly stack the deck, but the real vote is already in. Oil

This is a really shady vote. Worse than a presidential election! For some reason, it's letting me vote TWICE! Because I'm one person that believes in one vote, I only exercised one vote.
Now...if I could've voted twice on one jeep...hell yeah!

Not knowing where else to comment on Bruce's M151 experience, I was thinking that if you put Bruce in one on the trail, and knowing that a Independant suspension in rocks and bumps is superior to a leaf sprung Jeep, we all would never see Bruce again. He would be so long gone that he'd eat lunch by 10 AM on the trail-------LOL John ( He cooks it on the engine by the way)
