This is brought to you by the Willeeeze Nelson Band. The lead singer says in the song that ----I say Willys, you say Willis. Proof that Jeff is a Willeeeze guy! He also named his pal General Willleeeeese. So, you are now on shaky ground and possibly wrong-------again. I just love dragging it out, don't you? I think Haines is stacking the deck with new members that aggree to go over to the dark side. I may have to bribe some Jeep guys to over power the Willis guys and join the site. I've got Chuckie on my side though. Ha! Signed General Willys correct side guy.

.........Spelling and pronouncing has been a problem for years as jpet mentioned!. I will use "Chevrolet" once again as an example . Pronounced "Chevroley" by the general public most likely billions more times over the years than "Willys" -V- "Will-IS" . I will ask, Why is it no one in the Chevrolet camp cares how it's pronounced ? , no doubt a butchering of the spelling . My friend Rolf who is not a Jeep guy told me his grandmother drove Will-IS cars in the 1920's and 30's and loved them! and was always quick to correct the miss pronunciation, and snap back that it's a Will-IS not a Willease, this from a good Irish woman who drove here Americar into the 60's. .........Why is it no one in the Chevrolet camp cares how it's pronounced ? .... Hmmm ...... could it be because they don't think it's important as long as you own one?

I Say Willys A CJ2A column shifter, that's the jeep for me with pumpkin wheels on harvest tan or yellow on pasture green If you want a project, they're the perfect trailer queen see these restorations, you'll know what I mean Chorus: I say Willeeze you say Willis That don't mean that you can kill us Some like CJs, some MBs, Forward Control and Cherokee I say Willeeze you say Willis One thing we all agree In the end it's true we all love jeeps The other day a Willys truck had passed me on the road I said that sure looks handy if you want to haul a load A pickup truck that looks like the iconic jeep we know In forms of transportation, it's another mode All y'all should prob'ly look at this here CJ5 It ain't got flat fenders but I think that I'll survive Dauntless V6 power makes it really come alive .. ..and you can tell the difference when in four wheel drive There is something special 'bout a GPW It's a jeep that's built by Ford and it has "F" scripts through and through Them that own them tell me that an MB will never do .. .. but let us think about it from another view. I met a friend at MOAB in his Willys modified It made the young men drool, and it made the purists cry I was skeptical until he took me for a ride His modern engineering cannot be denied A Jeepster is an eye catcher no matter who you are It's seven slotted grill makes it a classic Willys car Take it down the highway, you can drive it near or far .. .. and you will draw attention like a movie star There is a CJ3B, it's known for its high hood It's got a few more ponies if you want to haul some wood There are some don't like it but then most they think it's good The point I'm tryin' to make here should be understood.
..... Come to the Summer reunion and you can hear this and other songs performed. I'm adding a banjo player as well.

Guess being a Yank I pronounce it wrong. Must be the accent. Yeah, the accent, Dutch/German makes me say it the way I do.

Haines and Lee are actually the only two people in my life who call a Willys Jeep, ----- Willis. Speech impediment I think. Or they can't pronounce Willy and add a S to make it plural. Rock headed type guys. But, since I like them, I'll just let it go. What are friends for. Signed General Non Willis

Not a speech impediment, just great respect for an American Icon J N Willys and the "Correct" pronunciation of his family name . Lee, from the respectful and correctly pronounced camp ........

Oh I don't debate that my pronunciation is incorrect but does that mean I have to? Some people pronounce our company name wrong and some pronounce my last name wrong but we have a policy. As long as you buy our products, you can pronounce our names any way you like

I like the last part of jpet's above statement.
Here is a thought...does J N Willys have any living relatives around. Perhaps they should be contacted!?

I do what I must to drag this out, as long as I can, because I need someone to insult me. Otherwise my blood thickens and I get bored. Haines gets hot headed and it thins my blood again and off we go. That's where the fun is at. Binthere is good at doing this. A good laugh added in is good for your blood pressure. Moosey, jump in anytime! Oil
