Yeah...tubes are $20 odd bucks a piece, too. I've been looking at rubber for about 8 months or so. I bought some new old stock tires from a guy out of Charlotte two years ago, but I sold them with my M37. $300 for four 9 x 16 1950s dated unused tires! Aaarrrggghhh!
I could've used those now!

Did a little priming this morning. I think it is funny the spots where I left the original markings. Maybe one day I will erase them. And obviously I still have some sheet metal work to do. That is low on my list right now. That cosmetic stuff can be done later and not effect usage of the truck... I also cut some oak supports and mounted them in the brackets underneath the running board steps.

Haha! Good eye....that one is the MB. She makes one heck of a work bench....holds my tools and spare parts like no other! I doubt the truck will be there for the parade. (Remember the tire issue?) Also, that same day, but earlier is the Sville parade. I've already committed to drive at least one vehicle with the local American Legion guys. IF doable, I'll get all 3, plus Uyak and one or two other local yocals. After the parade, we high tail it to Mt. P and spectate your awesome parade! I love that one...especially if it's cold!

I've slowly been prodding along this weekend...the entire rear bed is primed, I've welded shut all of the smaller cracks/gaps. I'm going to begin fixing the major holes on the driver side rear panel and passenger front corner. Just so happens I have enough steel laying around for those repairs.
I'll report back later this week with some pics. And, so you can set your expectations correctly...is sheet metal work gets the job done, but in NO way compares to some others that post here! Hence, I am not removing dents...it will make my grafts look believable! Haha! ;D

Now pick on the Moose week is over I am all serious ;D, Do it your way, as it's yours, and it's 71 years old and it should show some of it's history, dents, repairs, field mods are all history. IMHO to many are over restored to the point the owners are scared to use them, my M-715 was repainted with dents & scrapes, no one really notices them but me and I feel you will have the same results Lee

I did (for now) my last sheet metal repair on the truck yesterday. The front oassenger tool bin in the bed looked like a robotic dog took a bite out of the lip. Cut the jagged edge out and replaced it.
After that, I mixed up some OD paint and covered the interior bed area and the underside of the wood planks. If I get time this afternoon, I might paint some more. I'm really stoked to get the floor wood installed. I'll get some pics up...eventually.

Moose, you have Green Disease like I do. Your pictures confirmed what I got from my neighbor before he hauled them to the crusher. He had a engine long block, one complete transmission with petals and bell housing, another transmission, and a PTO with lever. They all match your WC pictures. Also got the shafts that go on the PTO. I have two M37's with winch, so I knew they were dodge, but what confused me was no synchros in the tranny. I then deduced they were WW2 WC parts. If you know of anyone looking, I have them in my shed. I'm also glad you saved the original markings. I'd painfully measure and reproduce them. Put them back when you paint. That nails your WC's history. Very cool toy! Slow, but cool. John

Thanks for the great words, John. You've given me even more motivation to post you some more pics! I'd have done the same with the neighbor's parts...saved them not knowing what exactly they are! My wife keeps reminding me, "Bo, you can't save them all!" Haha. I sprayed some more paint today...this thing is A LOT larger than a jeep! I flipped my wood, finished the interior of the bed, did the chairs and the exterior passenger side of the bed. Driver's side, tailgate, windshield and hood left...for another day. John...I absolutely plan on doing the markings like you said. For now, I just painted around the star on the passenger side. Knowing me, I'll grow fond of it and leave it for a loooong while.

AAAARRRGGGGGHHH! Have I mentioned how much I hate posting pictures on this forum!!!! Anyways, stand on your head and this is what it looked like last friday night/Saturday morning at about `12:45am. Who knew lining up 50 odd carriage bolts would be sooo tedious?! At this point, I had all but 8 in place. Saturday morning, I finished up 7 of them...the 8th can only be done by magical elves or by removing the gas tank. Hmmmmm.... Anyways, its nice and sturdy. Needs some more paint, but I am going to wait until I finish up the bumperettes and such so I can do it all at once. Also, the hood is still in limbo...not sure what to do about it just yet. I have a really soft spot for those original numbers. I never had them that complete on any jeep. I even fitted the tailgate. I need one more bracket for the driver's side...and oh yeah...a pair of chains would be nice, too. I kind of like the desert paint scheme. Maybe I'll repaint for the North African campaign.

Moose, you are dedicated to be messing around until 12:45 AM, or you had too much cold refreshment. Now the bad news, I see a track left by a fly in the forward box area. You'll have to repaint it. 8-)John

Haha! It wasn't quite raining, but it was wet. I was getting so disgusted because I'd pop a carriage bolt through the bed, then hop out, roll under and tighten the nut on it. I'd climb back in the bed and bring dirt and crud with me. Oh, HORRORS! Today, I swept out all if the leaves fired her up and was going to go for a cruise around the block... ...and then I couldn't shift her into gear...all it would do is grind!! Ouch. I dropped the clutch inspection cover and looked up and in. I tapped the throw out bearing and it rattled! I also think the clutch might be frozen to the flywheel. Fuuuuuddddgggeee. Besides replacing the T/O, pressure plate and clutch disk, anyone have any thoughts? Doh!

Do the brakes work now ?, and does it have low range ?, drag it out on the street, put in low range or first gear and start it in gear, now push the clutch to the floor and hit the brakes on and off, most of the time it will brake loose, common problem in humid climates, also on friction cranes. try it, you have nothing to lose . This fly was trained by expert trackers. I think he knew how to cover up his tracks! ;D, Your clutch disc may have rusted or stuck to the flywheel or pressure plate. If you can start him up in gear or pull start it, you depress the clutch petal and then step in and out of the throttle. The disc usually breaks free. If it worked before, that's my guess what happened. John
