Shhh...don't tell the IFFC Jeep Police this is posted here! Truthfully, I couldn't decide which subheading to post this under and since I'm not actively working on a jeep... This is my '42 Dodge WC52 (originally a 55). I got it Dec. '12, but only started working on it in this summer. It runs (for now), so I'm just doing a cosmetic restoration on it for now, including a complete brake job, electrical work and a few other odds and ends. And now my picture posting site is being a PITA...so I shall try to post pics later. AAARRRGGGHHHH!

Now for some of the things I have done to her... A complete brake job and master cylinder rebuild... I cleaned up the upper portions of the block and repainted. After removing all of the fenders, I just cleaned the lower block and left what was still visible of the original paint. sanded, primed and repainted the interior. I ended up (for now) leaving the original paint on the dashboard. What the heck, right? Also, while all of the floor boards were out, I cleaned up and repainted the transmission. Fenders cleaned, sanded and repainted. I left the hood in its original state...I don't quite have it in me to erase the original hood numbers. If the hood were done, the winch would look like a sore spot! The original wood bed is LONG gone. If you look close enough, you can still see the clues that made this a WC55. Getting cleaner... Old wiring harness on the right, new on the left. New harness in the engine bay... ...and running back to the rear tail lights. I like to equate that job similar to threading a needle with a hemp rope. And the last MAJOR repair was removing the front end/radiator, water pump to remove and then replace the water distribution tube within the engine block.

What the $^% is a Dodge doing on this forum. I am going to file a formal complaint with the XO,,,,,,,,,whats next,,,Pontiac Fiero pictures,,,,,,,WTF,,,,,,,,,,Interesting rig, it has patina, early model as it says DODGE on the front, the Fort Leonard Wood deal is very interesting, will you redo that?, boy is that steering wheel going to be sticky when you remove all the black tape, nice it has all the combat rims on it .......I guess it can stay,,,it is COOL ;D,,,,,,,I have a couple Dodges myself,,,,,,,actually I will give you a $1000 cash for it, only because your neighbors want it gone (I know that) think of it as a clean up the hood deal,,,,,your bride will be happy as well.........whatcha think Lee

HAHAHAHA! ;D Haines MADE me do this! I swear! If you look closely, a couple of jeeps CAN be seen in a few of the pics. And you are right about the neighbors. It was WAY worse when I had a fleet of dead jeeps in the side yard last year. I AM the reason that HOAs (like where our Haines lives) were formed. Yes, it is the early Dodge. I received the build card from Chrysler...it is a June of 1942 truck. The frame, body and engine appear to be original, too, according to the build card. For whatever reason, my '44 MB had that same tape job on the steering wheel. When I removed it...boy did it stink! It may have even temporarily overtook the canvas smell in the garage. I ordered more canvas and took my garage back.

ooooooooo...this will be a good test for the new XO! Dot 3. I waffled a little bit over it. The GPW has dot 3 (which needs to be flushed) and the '44 MB I did last year has silicone. After all of the research I did, it still seems that half the camp says this and the other half says that. The Dot 3 has worked great in the GPW thus far, so what the heck...that might be interesting just to see what everybody on this forum is doing.

Glad you asked, I am of the pro-silicone camp, I have had it in my 2A for 6 yrs and no troubles at all, this was a fresh brake job, IE new mc,wc,rubber hoses, and steel lines. I also run it in my M-715, for 6 yrs as well, this had new mc, and wheel cyls as well, and no issues as well. Seems most that have problems are leaking fittings or lines, I made all my lines for the 2A and well understand how to double flair a fitting, I believe most that have trouble do not understand a double flair fitting or are using infeirior parts, or do not have the proper wrenches to tighten the fittings, One thing I would also suggest is replaceing the brake light switch, IMHO if it had dot 3 in it it will not last long with the silicone fluid, I had to replace bolth of mine after a year. MHO, Lee

Sure! (After I buy this lady a new pair of pretty shoes that match this pretty dress I'm painting on her!). Right now, I shouldn't even be taking her around the block. Maybe I will show you the worst tire tomorrow. I guess the downhill run on the bridge is as fine a time as any to test the brakes, eh?

Oh my gosh....you are out of control! ;D. This tire does weigh a ton...or there abouts. I've had it on and off the rear axle a couple of times and it is HEAVY. Heavy like its filled with cement, not air. Do you think the air in ww2 weighed more?
I was going to use it as my spare, but I could not lift it up onto the running board, co back on the axle it went!
