I use the high temp wheel bearing grease for disc brakes. Squeeze and turn after you work it in from the front and rear, wipe off the excess so it doesn't fling off. You'll instantly feel a difference. Oilly

Welcome aboard Limey Jim , glad you pronounce Willys correctly. I like to see pictures of how the heck you repack a throw/release bearing.

Welcome aboard Limey Jim , glad you pronounce Willys correctly. I like to see pictures of how the heck you repack a throw/release bearing. BD7, it comes oiled, but not greased enough. You pack it like a tapered roller bearing in your hand, or if mounted to the slider, work it in with the side of your finger. It doesn't hold much grease, but does make a huge difference in function. I am going to have to look closer at a throw out bearing. They look sealed up to me.

The center sleeve moves quite a bit inside the outer shell. That crack front and back is where you force it in. Otherwise yes, it looks sealed.

Well, thanks guys..I'm really pleased that you haven't thrown me out already..don't mind tellin' you I was in a bit of a sweat over the Willys pronunciation. Glad I got it right!
Why couldn't I have found a site like this before where the lunatics have taken over the asylum. I feel comfortable in here as I like things and people who are ever so slightly off kilter. I shall take a look into the 'dry' release bearing possibility as soon as I can.
Oilly, I thought I pronounced Willys correctly....I shall heed all advice given. Also what are HBR's that the captain suffers from?

Hot Buttered Rum is a tradition, a right of passage if you will, and imbibed with relish after a long day of trail Jeepin'.
Then there's Uncle Rick's Mulekick but it's best not to mix the two..

I personally, at the end of a hard day wandering aimlessly about the house annoying my wife, is a cocktail of Avgas with a dash of paint thinners. Of course one should not relax with a cigar whilst drinking this. One of these will guarantee a good nights sleep.

It's all in good fun. Just don't enjoy ALL YOUR FRIENDS beverages at the same time. Whiskey Beer, never fear, Beer, Whiskey-------------pretty risky.

And now Scout--- it's about time to stick in the new Guidon! LOL Yes, considering we are discussing recipes for wrong turns, it would be appropriate at this time to post the guidon.

The guidon explains most of what we do here. A drifting sign for Jeeps.
