That sux BoBo! The F case is pretty F'd. Hey, just drop a T 90 in it and cut the floor so it will fit! signed Bubba. There ya go! When you get done, just cut a hole in a Yosamite Sam floor mat for the shifter and throw over it. On a serious note, I'm no expert, but a machine shop should be able to fix like you planned.

Bo, do not do anything drastic, like get pissed and throw that into the driveway! Here is something I must ask Sir Gary. Where did the Yosemite Sam Thing come in? Cutting the hole? You made my arms get all goose bumped and stuff.

Yosemite Sam floor mats and matching mud flaps where a must..... Besides I happens to know where a GPW happens to be that has that done....Floor cut for a T90 tranny and a Yosemite Sam floor mat thrown down to cover it..... And the owner will just assume to cut you half with a double barrel Stevens than to part with it..... Yes, he's a friend of mine!!

Here is why I ask. Grandpa Haines had this set of Mudflaps on his Jeep. He cut the hole for the exhaust to go through! I gave a Flap to my son, my sister, and my brother. The one with the hole, I kept for myself. It hangs in the garage wall. No accident we all met, I am sure of it!!!

No reason to feel bad at all! Everyone loved those Mudflaps!! I get such a smile out of the one on my wall . Grandpa put those on I believe because folks used to drive on his tail so frequently when he was driving the Jeep. He also to tales of people giving him the Your #1 Salute... I also think it's just too coincidental that you would say that!!! Awesome!!

Bo, do not do anything drastic, like get pissed and throw that into the driveway! quote] If it were a Willys case, that might be an option. Since it is clearly GPW marked, that will not happen. If it cannot be fixed, I'll rebuild it with my spare bad take out parts and use it as my museum/living history piece.

OH YEAH. Another great idea, Greasemonkey Moose. That was such a cool display at Latta, people really liked that. I am not sure I have any pictures, but I'll dig and see.

Ryan...good eye. I'm one step ahead of you. Three weeks ago when I opened up the case and realized I at least needed shift rails, I went on the hunt. Deep within the innards of my mostly blank mind, the thought of something catastrophic to my case entered my conscious unconscious. I found that eBay ad. I struggled with the fact that it's a WoF case, but I decided that that is probably better then a repro. Instead of eBay, I went to his website. I bought NOS shift rails, a NOS synchro unit and that case. Bypassing eBay saved me $25 on the case. When it arrived, I just set the box in the corner. Friday, when I removed the transmission and discovered my problems, I began to clean up the nos case. It was covered like a mummy in cosmoline. To my horror, the upper left bolt ear to the bell housing was broken off and awol. I called the proprietor and he is sending me another case, no charge. It's an emotional roller coaster. I'm still working on trying to salvage the GPW case. At least with the broken WoF case, the machinist can use it to gain the specs. I've given him both cases along with the counter cluster gear and thrust washers. Hopefully a solution can be found... ...and then I'll keep the WoF replacement case as an insurance policy.

And----------------------you now have a reason to buy another WW2 Jeep. Why else have a new case? It's just so simple to reason it out huh?

Well, yesterday I found the 2nd case from Brent Mullins waiting for me on my doorstep. I cleaned all the cosmoline off it this afternoon. What a mess! I kind of wished I could just keep it as a relic! Anyways, it's been primed. I'll shoot it with Ford gray later. I haven't heard from the machinist yet whether or not the GPW case is salvageable or not. I figure if I continue building the WoF case, then the Ford case will get fixed. If I leave the WoF case alone, Murphy's Law will deem the Ford case unusable.

Holy smokes...I'm out of jeep repair shape and am driving myself crazy! Why the hell cant I figure out what parts I need at one time and then make one damn order??!
I've begun assembling my T84 in the WoF case. Still no word from about the GPW case. I now need part WO 635840. It is the little darn pin that gets poked into the top of the transmission case and the shift lever guide sits on it. The wavy washer either rests below the plate or on top of it, depending which camp you sit in.
I can buy the pin for $3.5 from Mullins in TX. I was hoping to reinstall the trains this weekend, tho. For you guys that have this transmission, do you know of any local substitute I can buy?
This crap is frustrating.

Hey Mooosey, if I wasn't leaving town in an hour or so I'd tagteam that order to Mullins. I'm poised to buy a pile o stuff. My FIL had another TIA, so we're antsy to get up there. BTW, I am taking the glovebox door off my jeep up there too - SOMEHOW, don't ask me how, you reminded me ..

Why aren't you using the original pin?

Why aren't you using the original pin? It's still in the GPW box...at the machinist collecting dust. I didn't realize it was a separate part. I am impatient, especially when I see my jeep in a million pieces scattered about my cluttered garage.

Part sourced!!
A friend of mine is doing me a solid on this one!
The problem is that it is traveling across the country. It's too hot to sweat beneath the jeep anyways.
Interesting, though...he said to be careful installing it. He's cracked a case before in the process.

I solved the wavy washer debate years ago on G 503. No One could refute it! I told them to have Bob Ballard find a sunken freighter full of WW2 Jeeps that never made it. Dive down and unbolt the top of one in a crate and look! Ahhhhhh Yes that would answer the question.

I just read somewhere that the Ford drawings show the washer below. And then in 4/1945, it is changed and sits above. WTF? 3 years later they reverse it.

Just a little update: GPW case is still AWOL. I am impatient, jeep has been down for several weeks. Rebuilt the WoF case. Slammed a bunch of NOS parts into it and some repro supposedly American made stuff. Double shielded bearings fore and aft, new throw out bearing. She dry shifts on the bench. Mated her with the transfer case yesterday.
Today, I'm going to pull out the rear parking brake flange. I've got a replacement seal and flange for that spot. It has leaked oil from that area since the get go. Thought since I have elbow room on the garage floor, I'd look at it. Hopefully later today the jeep guy formerly know as detard will come put the unit back in my jeep.

I drove a mile or so this morning in the GPW with a WoF case. Everything appears normal. Funny, though...with so many parts replaced, it does shift differently than my old one. Rev/1st seems tight shifting and feels like it barely moves when sliding into gear. No slop in there. That's probably how it's supposed to be. Me being a negative nervous nelly (about my own jeep), I'm awaiting the doom and gloom to occur.

I really wish I could have witnessed that operation - I might be doing mine sooner than later, although like you said it could be more my clutch. Glad Warren Peace is back on the road!
