I'm really not doing much of anything right now, but i wanted to contribute something to this degenerating forum.
Mods, feel free to move this, since I'm not sure where it should go.
Yesterday, I mailed 5 WW2 footman loops to a good friend located in one of the Dakotas.
That is all!
(I'll stop being a smart @ssed peanut gallery contender and be quiet now.)

It's good to see the transfer of valuable trinkets. I commend you both.
Now, on to the other comment made by the always thoughtful Moose...
Mama always said "You dance with the one that brung ya." I'm got a feeling that HG has a new love...and we here at Haines Garage have been tossed to the curb.

Now that is just not true !!! In fact, I am really sorry if you feel that way. I am trying to branch out and really make something BIG!! My intention is to include each and every one of you. I thought I told you that in a phone conversation before I even started out on my new Venture. I only have so much time in the day... I still need to finish my Jeep. I have not and will not forget my friends!! It's doing something positive! I love Jeeps, I love you guys! I love talking shit! Everybody knows that!!! If I could do that for a living, it would be a dream come true. I thought I explained that? I called you three times this week Tim. Left messages. I am saying this here so All can see. I am assuming you all saw the Bo Turocys interview with Bubba Haines. He was apprehensive about doing it at first....it turned out Fantastic!!!! Here is the deal from the ground up.... My silly vids caught attention. I know it's crazy!! It takes work and numbers to get attention of advertisers and potential sponsors That is what I am doing . It's about the PEOPLE behind the Jeeps! That's what I love BEST! Said it from the very start!!! I am asking you as my family for your support... This is SERIOUS!!!!

I've got nothing against what you're doing. In fact, I'm hopeful that this all works out like you hope. I know this new venture is important to you, and I'll support this effort. I simply find it odd that you're lighting up Facebook, but have virtually nothing to say here.

Perhaps you could at least give an update here on how the venture is progressing. This may help those of us that don't "Facebook", stay engaged in your new passion.

I will take partial blame for the lack of postings...only because I didnt realize how tight this group IS and really dont know about forums and how they work....the postings on FB is what I know.....I am "new" to the neighborhood and hope you all support this adventure because it REALLY IS about each person.....(I need to learn this forum stuff and get involved)....

I will say for the record that I think Scott Schiller is leaps and bounds more entertaining than Bubba Haines. FWIW I think the show would be better (and attract a broader audience) with Schiller hosting it. It's a great premise - A real look at these various projects and the stories behind them. Maybe some Bubba "Tech Tip" cameos or something but you're funny enough on your own. Regardless I hope the shows is a smash hit and Bubba is still welcomed in my garage anytime (so long as Schiller stops by for a minute as well).

Oil (I never stop) It IS an amazing damn story, Oily. I'm happy you picked up on it. I wish I could I recall which damn state those jeep parts were going to. Were the Dakotas a part of the Louisiana Purchase? Might be easier for me to think of that vast land beyond the Mississippi River that I have not traveled to be one General space. (Pun intended) I've just gotten the clever idea...if I were to ship jeep part by jeep part one at a time, a la Radar style), would that be an economical way to get my jeep to the Black Hills? The Carolinas are kind of like the Dakotas...being that there is an upper and a lower. I wonder if your reflectors are going to one of the 3 stooges or the northern engine guy that can torque the sh!t out of any bolt? Oh, and to all you other bastages (except The Hawk)...go start your own meaningless thread since we can't clutter up the vintage vehicle thread anymore! I'll say this...the professor's comment was pretty damn funny, though. This thread was supposed to just irritate Lee.

And your comments are noted...Roots is the whole reason behind my entire adventure. Your input is VERY IMPORTANT to me. I tried to post the video of the First episode to youtube. it was too long! The only way to get it out was to load it to FaceBook. I never thought in my wildest dreams that I would like the FB website like I do. There is some Fanstastic People that reside there. I have invited the guys that I talk with here as well. The Moose interview is being edited and hopefully we will be able to upload it here soon... I think you will all like it.

I like the vintage vehicle thread and it's fine, just seems we get lazy and post there instead of our project threads ect.... Things get posted elsewhere on the forum and seldom get looked at. Truth be told, most forums are dead this time of year as the weather is more pleasant and we do not spend as much time on them........... then there are those of us with SUCK internet service, unable to post pictures ect., I drive 8 miles to town to post a picture. All smiles Mooooooooosey

I'll say this...the professor's comment was pretty damn funny, though. This thread was supposed to just irritate Lee. YES!!! GET IT!!!! IT IS AN AMAZING STORY!!! All of us brought together for the love of an Ole Jeep! THAT IS COOL! Its A brotherhood! I am thankful to be a part!! I SAID IT MANY A TIME! sorry for shouting....It is no damn accident that all of us have met each other via the WWW!. That is awesome! There is far too much crap out there on TV right now! This Is AMERICAN!!! I've seen the Motorcycles, The Cars, The Gold Dudes, The Naked People in the woods...All That!! Its time for THE JEEP GUYS! True Americana! An Important Piece Of Our Freedom!! That's A FACT! I have always supported the cause, Got SPANKED by some A Holes, Put Myself WAAAAY out there on a limb! Its it worth it? YES!!! This Thread is no longer about Footman Loops...But its is...Simple Stuff like that is called FRIENDSHIP And Caring For others!!! THAT IS THE POINT! Where else do you see this sort of thing? So A Small forum...That came from another attempt to share my enthusiasm that got Poo Pooed on from some LOSER ASSHOLES!!! Haines Garage is an Awesome Place!! Those people will be on the same pages tomorrow...Saying the same STUPID STUFF! And I know you all know what I am talking about!!! I'm moving forward.... I want to share something else with you that I have never told anyone ... Shortly after I started my project...I was diagnosed with a Malignant Melanoma. I thought my life was going to be over. I had heard stories of people with Melanoma that had lost their lives because of it, in a short period of time. As a Christian , Scared Man, I asked God in Prayer for Two Things...That He would Keep my Wife And Children Safe from harm, and he might perhaps allow me enough time to finish my Grandfathers Jeep... Sounds Crazy doesn't it... When I was in Colorado by the Grace of Tim Hawkridge and His Wife, and some parts that sold for Far more on Ebay than I thought they would, I was able to go to the FCT!. I remember sitting on a ridge , almost in tears, in fact I was... thanking God for allowing me to be there. I met all the people involved on the websites that I had been attending to gain the knowledge I needed to restore Grandpas Jeep. It has been five years now, and I have had no reoccurrences!! AMEN! I want to tell the STORIES! Tell the WHY of the little guy, loving his project, loving his Willys Jeep. It is not an easy journey!! We all know this! Its About THE WHY!! Even a post on our forum...way back! That is the truth....It was Scout Pilot Who reminded me "The Truth Will Set You Free"! I know or have met all the BEST Characters in this story...They reside here at Haines Garage... I want all of you to understand what I have said from the beginning...Look it up in my post from three years ago on other forums...It is not about the actual vehicle, but the people behind them! I have also posted...Quote from my wife when it all began..."Think about the adventure you are on, and the PEOPLE you will meet , because of your Grandfathers Jeep!" That is what was left to me by a hard working blue collar guy...I LIVE IT! If I have to play a Character, or do something "Out There" for the sake of "OUR" cause, or to Tell "OUR" Story...Than that's what I will do. It is nothing more than I would have, or have done already....! Remember all the Past Videos? I will ask all of you this....Please keep an open mind to what is going on...Your my Brothers! And a Brother has to back a Brothers Play...

Woah! This thread was about Footmans Loops. Now look where we have drifted off to. I would like to say that I watch shows on TV like Pawn Stars, Mountain men, Duckmen, and I end up thinking what a false, joke, and why people get paid so much money to pretend to be something they really aren't. Like selling yourself. It apparently doesn't get high enough ratings unless it is ridiculous. Again. we'll see where this goes. Now, Moosey, I'm not welding your body tub back together! You'll have to truck freight that to get it here. I'm located in Dakota Territory. You'll need armed escorts to freight it. The Indians up here do not like white men. I have to carry my rifle with me at all times. Sitting Bull and Red Cloud are irritated. They didn't like Lewis and Clark either. Oil

I have to agree with Ryan_M. Scott should be the front guy and his separated-at-birth twin brother Bubba could do cameo-tech-tips. Guys. I see what Scott is trying to do. He wouldn't be human if a little humility-laden self-aggrandizement didn't enter his thoughts. That makes him human. But he is on a mission as well. Just as he tried with the WWW, he is trying to unite the disparate and far-flung brothers and sisters of the vintage Jeep family. He appears to have an opportunity to put real faces to the stories, history and passion we all share. It's incumbent upon us to help him keep his feet firmly on the ground, though. To that end, I remind all of us old enough to remember...Sunset Boulevard.

Okay, I'll try to bring this back...
I like footman Loops. A lot! Whether I need them or not, I drill out the dimples and stick them everywhere I've ever seen them mounted. I just need one of you fellas to get heavy into making the straps...in OD...in numerous lengths.
Black straps will work too! I just prefer the cotton straps...1". NO NYLON. That wouldn't be very Willys like.

They are cool aren't they? What is really cool is a top completely installed with straps and none of those miserable chrome snaps. I had to carry a screwdriver to unsnap them once they got dirty or I'd pull the snap out of the vinal top. Have you ever studied the difference in them? WOW That is a whole topic, all to itself. Even WW2 had a series of designs used. I also have experienced the difference in a good green OD canvas strap and a cheap chinese made nylon strap. Guess which one wins? Oilly

I have a few GPW footman loops, and will most likely need more, so you guys keep your eye's peeled.............Mooooooooooooosey the Louisiana purchase did include the Dakota Territories, There were a team of explorers led buy two guys by the names of "Lewis & Clark", perhaps you have heard of them! . The team spent there first winter in present day North Dakota north of Bismarck on the Missouri river. It may be possible the GPW footman loops were patterned after the footman loops used on the purpose built river boats they traveled in, or not!. Lee

I would post the picture for you, Scott...I had one with all of my WW2 variations lined up. I've since deleted it. I took it for that dumb SoB, cesspool cowpoke located deep in the Louisiana Purchase territory. I bet it is still in his inbox. Good luck getting the Wyatt Earp of the jeep trails to post it. It's like rocket science to him, you know.

Mark...BINGO! I've got to put up a disclaimer, though. I have no written evidence to support this claim. All I have to support this is that the loop on the left have been found on my '43 and '45 GPW tubs, and the righthand loop is identical to all three '44 MB tubs I've had. Thanks, Wiz!
