Once you have a Kubota, that does nice things like blade and blow snow, till the garden, and mow like a bugger, you never go back. You can build a ball hitch tat connects to the rear 3 point abd move all kinds of trailers and such around. There are so many other things you can attach, you could go crazy. Oilly

Great Scott! That is even more impressive than your little teaser photo led me to believe. And that is crazy nice of you to leave some treasure for the next fellow! ...or are you returning to snag the rest in the spring?

And Gary - That long tube is full of some kind of window trim - those thin metal channels with the black bristly brush stuff running along them. I think it is a generic part meant for a Willys Pickup or Wagon. It'll be sticking out of my road side trash can Wednesday if you want to swing by and grab it

Educate me on the value of a MB powered generator set like you got. I know of one near me. 2nd, are you going to put the MB engine out of the generator into the WW2 Jeep? I snagged axles, engine, trans/transfer,radiator, seat springs, drive shafts front motor mounts all out of a '55 pickup today. At least I too am storing heavy junk in my shop------LOL. Pickups are beginning to get demand. The older they are, the harder to get. Pickups are like your favorite worn out shirt. You just love them. Hate to throw them out. Oilly

These gensets are usually low hour engines with standard crank journals and cyl. Bores, fit right in an MB Willys........ Seeing value yet Oilleaker.

Do they use the same cam grind as the regular MB engine? I don't know a whole lot about them. I have read that the manifolds might be slightly smaller in the gensets, but the actual engine was the exact same as the jeep. I bet Lee will know.

I'm not sure on cam grind, anemic in either case most likely....... Even if the cam is different, I will repeat, standard crank/cyl. Bores to a Willys sickened MB owner equals $.

The clock on this reads 1020 hours. I have no way to verify if that's accurate but if it is you'd think the motor would still be in pretty good shape given what Gary already mentioned regarding running at fairly constant RPM. I have no idea what I'm going to do with this thing. I don't have the space to keep it long term. The compelling reason to buy it in the first place was simply to check it off the "yeah, I had one of those...." list. It's just a cool toy. I need to swap out the fuel pump and clean it up a bit. I'll have fun playing with it for awhile and then it'll be up for sale. I'd prefer to sell the whole unit but if push comes to shove I will pull the motor and peddle that on its own. I got very good money for that GPW Doodlebug motor awhile back so I could do pretty well with a running MB motor too. Or, maybe just stash the motor away for use down somewhere the road ( ). No doubt I'll wish I had it back at some point....

The motor that I sourced for my MB came out of one of those and yes it was all standard. It had a stock head also. Some had low compression industrial heads. It will say industrial on it. The intake manifold had smaller ID to it. The cam, pistons, etc. were the same as a regular MB engine. The oval pad also said MB XXXXXXX on it. Shipping any motor is ridiculous and costs all of what the engine sells for. I would save it if you want a MB someday. If you look at my shop right now, I'm my own worst enemy. I'm beginning to stumble over pickup engines and transmissions. Jeep Disease is rampant. Getting worse as time passes by. I need help: send Jeep parts quick---------LOL. Your Generator would also have a governer to control the engine speed and maybe a fan that pushes instead of pulls. I've never played with the whole thing. I think you can get these things bought running for less than a overhaul would cost which makes them a deal. Oilly

Just my lowly opinion.....If it was me.... I'd keep it....
You don't find them everyday, and you'll never know when you need a generator. Bound to be reliable, no electronics to monkey with, and you know how to make a Willis run! I have no idea what the KW rating is, but Im sure it could power the essentials.

I would love to keep it but it takes up half the room of a whole Jeep! It's huge! Especially when parked next to my little Troy Bilt genny which pumps out almost as much juice with much less gas and takes up a fraction of the space. Someday when I build my aircraft hanger warehouse I'll be able to keep everything

Holy @&$#€£¥%!!!!!!! First off, what kind of person has this much stuff stashed in a shed for a million years and secondly, how do you keep sniffing it out??!!
If you and Scout can determine if any of those fuel pumps fit a WC, I'm in for buying! And you know I like to buy Ford crap in a box...don't care what it goes to either. Once you get it inventoried, lemme know your $$! By the way, die those nifty littleGPW boxes say GPA 18363? Might be some sort of generator repair kit?
As always, crazy cool!!!
