Members here taught me about this. Thought perhaps do a video .
The toolbox on my CJ2A has been removed. I will post about it in my build thread.
Any other comments or tips in this thread would be most appreciated. It's really not that hard of a process to remove spot welds, just time consuming.

You're almost too serious in your videos. Not a single smart ass comment. Amazing!
I will add that if you only want or need to cut through one layer of steel... You will often see a small rusty burst of dust when you reach the center point of the weld. When you see this, stop cutting.

Very helpful. I bought a spot weld removal bit this week and am going to attempt using it this weekend. I need to replace a portion of the top of the toolbox, which is fairly straight so it should be a pretty basic repair. The rain gutter area where the lid closes is in pretty rough shape too. Any suggestions on how to deal with repairing or replacing that?

It seems like it is always assumed , everyone trying to restore a vehicle knows it all before they even start. It is a journey. No one person knows everything. I was taught this by members here.!!!!
Nice to have friends!
Sir Hawkridge. Great point about the puff of dust!! Absolutely correct!

Sir Hawkridge. Great point about the puff of dust!! Absolutely correct! Thanks HG! Ryan, the gutter repair would be a bit tricky. Do you need to replace it all, or just portions? You could try to use some tubing or round stock steel in the same diameter as the gutter channel. Stick this in your vice then try to form the sheet metal into the same shape. Adding heat would make this easier. If the gutter is just a little pitted or has some minor rust through, you could use a bit of JB. Weld. Tim

It's pretty crusty. The PO replaced both front floor pans but never did anything with the tool box. I'm wondering if finding a tool box in better shape than this one may be the way to go. ]

I agree with finding a better one. That gutter is ga ga ga gone! I think Eric Kalamaja had one for sale reasonable. He is Zooke here and on the other jeep pages . I think he has a post on the 2a page about his body parts for sale . Eric? ?....

I just found his 2APage listing. Tool box is already sold but I'll keep my eyes open for another one.

Ry Guy, I agree with HG...It might be time to let that one go.
When searching for a replacement, be aware...The 2A box is different. It doesn't have a gutter, and the latch system is different. If this isn't a concern, your replacement possibilities will likely increase dramatically. I looked long and hard for a 3A or M38 replacement. I never found one, so Whitey has a 2A box. Also...on reproductions...I was never able to determine if the tool box is a repro of a 2A or a repro of a 3A/M38.
