On the Haines Garage Site, we honor all of our Veterans. Those who have served this Great Country of ours. No matter the time period, A Veteran is someone who put the service to the United States Of America before their personal self. First A Little History Veterans DayNow for my Personal thoughts . I grew up in a military family. My father was Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy, and A Viet Nam Veteran. My Grandfather was a WW2 Veteran, United States Army, European Theater. One thing I learned from both of them, is that Freedom isn't Free. There is a cost. Whether it be being away from your family, being put in horrible situations or circumstance, and the most ultimate sacrifice, giving your life. Jesus Said John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this: To lay down his life for his friends For those who are willing to do that for your Country, I am most honored and humbled by you. Thank you for Serving and Protecting this Great Place We All Call Home. Thank you for serving to save the very values that allow me to raise a family, make an honest living, worship how I feel is right, and be allowed to even say what I feel. Like your Freedom?.....Thank A Veteran!! Happy Veterans Day My Friends!

Thank you. There is always a price to pay for service to your country, whether in combat or peace (so to speak). While for the combat Vet it is more intense and that of which I cannot describe, in peace the training for possible conflict can be intense as well and many a good man or woman has given their life up in this endeavor.
I have lost fellow soldiers in training and have come close myself. We must be ready and the training must be of the caliber needed for true combat. The solder killed or injured in training does not get the recognition as one in combat. But they too have given all.
During the Cold War training was intense. I do fear a new cold war is on the horizon.
Thank you fellow Veterans and all of you who have cover our six.
A Happy Veterans Day!

Very nice comments........Interesting how people show less respect for veterans who did not see combat, quite common. Years back I was on jury duty and was picked for a trial. After sitting in a room on hold for nine hours while the attorneys plea bargained the case, the judge called us into the courtroom and thanked us for being there, and explained our presence there forced the person to accept the deal from the DA verses a trial. I think the peacetime veterans presence holds the same power, as a badguy someplace will not stir trouble knowing the US has soldiers on hand ready to go. Anyone who sacrifices years of there lives away from home and family in defense of our country is an honorable person and deserves the respect of every citizen of this country. Thank you all who served and are serving. Lee

About 2 minutes in and then sprinkled in segments up to the 4 minute mark, you'll see my veteran. The reporter got a few of the details wrong, but nonetheless its nice to hear Warren's voice again.
This day happened 5 years ago.

I'd like to say, "Thank You" to all of you who say, "Thank You". It's good to know that so many remember and respect us for what we did, or could, or would, have done. I'd like to say a VERY SPECIAL "THANK YOU" to some who are not with us to hear it - Some who I have known, worked with, or am related to. I started to type out a list of names, branch of service, when & where they served, starting with WWII, and as I got toward the end of the names as best I could remember for Korea, I realized that if I started on Viet Nam, the list could go on for all day. So rather than do any a disservice by leaving anyone out, I wiped the list off. This has gotten me to thinking, and I realize that there's nothing I can do to adequately thank any of them. All I can do is say "THANK YOU" to all those who gave all, those who came home and have since left us, and those who are able to hear me say it. BW
