Somewhere on my FB page I have an album from when Sarah and I were bouncing around Europe. I think my Bastogne pictures are in it. We flew in to Brussels, rented a car and started driving towards Germany with no plan or itenirary. It's mid December and it starts to snow. I'm navigating and notice that Bastogne will be a quick detour so we turn left and go. We roll into town and the snow is really falling. There is OD everywhere: vehicles and reinacters with American GI everything. It's a Saturday. The Mayor just finished with a speech. We grab lunch. And then a parade starts! Besides all of the Euros dressing as our GIs and the massive assortment of American WW2 vehicles driving around town, the GREATEST thing I saw was a classroom of kids marching in the freezing cold, bundled up completely...and each child carrying one of our state flags. Every state was represented. The date was December 17, 18, or 19...it was 8 or 9 years ago...but that Saturday fell very close to the anniversary date. They haven't forgotten.
I also found a slew of foxhole remains in Jacques Bois (the woods near Foy that possibly Easy Co., among others would've occupied).
I loved seeing the exhaust from those jeeps in the video!

A clipping from the "Nuts" festival back in 1979 when I was stationed in Germany. A lot bigger now than it was then. It was actually a "nuts" festival before WWII but took on a whole new meaning after the "Battle Of The Buldge"

The Nuts Fair? Sweet! Then that is what I unbeknowingly attended...it was on a Saturday in December about a week before Christmas. I think it was Christmas Eve when we flew home. Lol. Neat clipping, Eric.
