Here ya go, Zooke...no frills, no comedy, just straight video. You can't have it, yet. I have two items, maybe a 3rd, on my post start-up punch list. Dripping water pump and dripping oil pan...and might play with the starter some more.

I haven't started the jeep since Friday. Yesterday, I swapped out the leaky water pump with a known good one that was on the GPW take-out engine. This morning, I pushed ol' Rusty into the driveway and on the 2nd 1/4 turn of the crank (with that 7 year old battery!) she immediately started to purr. Oh, yeah...the professor should be proud of that timing! lol
I let her idle for about 15 minutes in the driveway and then went out for about a 25 minute drive. Came home and let it idle for another 10-15 minutes before shutting her down. Everything seemed really good! Water pump no longer leaks!
I'm still getting a significant leak of oil, though. I climbed around underneath afterwards...giving ample respect to the hot exhaust pipe...looking for the source. Yes, it has the typical spots known to jeeps. I was fearing, though, it was gushing from the rear main seal. It appears that it is coming our of the bottom back corner (driver's side) of the oil pan and flowing down the skid plate on the oil pan and then dripping out below the drain plug. I recall that my GPW did that to me when I first dumped oil into it. In a few days, I'll drain the oil, remove the pan and fix the leak. Hopefully that is where it is coming from.
Other than that, I think I'm done!

But good job in the MB! Is it For Sale now officially? Close, but not yet...I want to get the oil pan squared away, first. (yes, my wife is on to my strategy, too...I'm loving the crap out of listening to the engine and driving this thing! I wanna keep it!! ...but I won't. I will stretch it our for awhile, though!)

The hose from the air cleaner to the crossover pipe...........It does not look right ?.......................... Nice observation, Lee. I THINK, but am not positive, that the air cleaner hose might be what came with the air cleaner when I bought it. Same deal with the spark plugs...they were on the dizzy with the GPW engine. When I was originally working on this jeep and doing the blog, my wife superimposed a budget on me. Some things needed to be done, and other items took the authentic wayside and made way for practical functionality...working spark plug wires saved me $45 back then. One day, maybe I'll share my financial spreadsheet with you guys. But Lee, don't fret...it's just an MB. My GPW has the right wires, suppressors and air cleaner hose. ;-)

No fretting of any kind Tallboots, reread, "Function over period correct". One needs to decide, "Factory class" or "Motorpool class". I am of the latter! I drive my stuff . A member of our MV club here did an early GPW factory class resto, After it got dusty he said the hell with it, I do not want a trailer queen and started driving it!. All the repop fancy period correct parts he paid a mint for, failed within a couple hundred miles , that being the fancy radiator hoses with the stripes on them, and the fanbelt that says GPW on it, spark plug wires. So why is this?, it's all made for trailer queens. He now has NAPA wires, a Gates belt and hoses . IMHO I would shorten the plug wires, easily done on the Dist. end (What the "F" is a dizzy), and get the correct hose for the air cleaner pipe (only a few bucks) It would look great!

While I would like under the hood to be correct as possible, I have a tendency to drive with the hood latched down. Just my humble opinion.

Parade Jeeps are nice to look at, but all original is the creme of the crop. If you don't drive them, why own it. I have only one of those. I love it and hate it. Retirement money is how I think of it. Now as Lee says, fix it so it can dependably operate at 12,400 feet. Man and machine-------driving pleasure. What is more fun than taking a pile of junk, fixing it all back to nice operating condition, and go out and enjoy it. That WW2 Jeep is perfect to do it with. Moosey should make that one the one to haul out to a mountainous area and drive it. Drive it just like the guys that hit Normandy Beach. Smoke cigars and drive through streams, mud and dust. I have now done this and can say that I'm going back for more. Oilly

So why is this?, it's all made for trailer queens. Thats why I made my own "repro" fan belt that I keep in my glove box spare parts kit. I made the stencil and painted it on a modern belt. I couldn't find an original. Oily, I'd love to keep this one and use it just like you said. Something's gotta go, unfortunately...and it isn't gonna be the GPW!

Because it spins in a circle and if you watch it long enough, that's how you feel.

And then again--why call it a willis!! Just sayin!! Because that's how it's pronounced! ..............Willease , just wrong . Oilleaker must have a really long arm............... why you ask?.....He is able to hold the starter button down, AND watch the rotor spin at the same time , long enough to get dizzy.........I would rather have a "Hot Buttered Rum" and call it a distributor
