I am interested in the correct uniform of the WW2 D Day era 101st Airborne Uniform.
I have a front seam helmet.
Lets start with this. I want to do the spade , as portrayed in Band Of Brothers. Any Specs or history? Colors?

M42 Uniform used by Paratroopers D-Day to prior to Operation Market Garden when they went to M43s and double buckle boots. (story on the boots later). Glider Infantry and Glider Artillery Uniform. M41 were issued as the Glider troops did not get hazardous duty pay nor get the blouse their dress uniforms or get to wear the M42s. Later after an 82nd officer had to go in on D-Day in a glider (he said never again, glider people were crazy), glider troops were authorized jump uniforms M43s, jump boots and hazardous duty pay. Of course the 101st patch.

That's the one you would be wearing for D-Day and the Unit you are representing.

Thanks very much for including a picture of me (2nd One Obviously) in my 29th Infantry Division Uniform under 101st Uniform Specs.
The 29th Infantry Division landed alongside the 1st US Infantry Division (The Big Red One) on Omaha Beach on D-Day 6th June 1944. Both of these Divisions fought a hard battle to take Omaha beach from the German 352nd Infantry Division (Recentaly transferred from the Russian Front) being the only Vetran German Division defending the landing beaches in Normandy on D-Day.

Fantastic Martin. The Bedford Boys 29th 116th Infantry were just up the road from where I live. I regularly go to The National D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA.

Yes Sir! Join the forum.. Could use a guy like you around here. Do you have a Jeep? g Yes indeed a 1942 Willys marked as original to 175th infantry Regiment of the 29th Division. My good friend Ben (first picture) from Holland has a 1944 Willys marked to 101st Airborne. We will be in Normandy for June 6th as we are every year, will we see any of you there.
