Memphis Belle is going to be in town (Roanoke, VA) Friday thru Sunday. Friday for viewing and Saturday and Sunday for rides. No money for rides, but plan to be there Friday for viewing. Maybe they will let Short Round get a picture with. Can only hope.
Also from the Veterans Show the other day had a guy they might use Short Round in a Mini Series. Fingers crossed. Get paid for rent of jeep and paid to drive it as well.

We have a star in the making. Your Jeep looks quite good and will fool people into thinking it's a real MB. Neat. I went and saw None- o- Nine when it was in Rapid City with a B24. Side by side. My father in law flew B24s in WW2 and bombed Iwa Jima. His original leather flight jacket is still in existance. The back is totally covered with red bombs from all those missions he flew. He like most, never talked much about it. The time leading up to the invasion of Japan is still not well known and was kept quite secret. He's gone now, but not forgotton. John

I'm going to catch grief for this, but here you go. I did 3 different drive bys in this episode. One was during one of the main scenes, the other two were during scene changes. Filmed on the old navy base here in Charleston. There was another jeep and a 2 1/2 ton truck on the set. They only used me. Link to TV showBoom. Been there, done that. I collected two pay checks...one for me. One for the jeep. I drove the jeep. Bought my spare tire with them. Yes, the jeep got paid more than I did.

Very cool, guys.
I can't imagine my Willys being used in any movie or TV show.
Well maybe if it was a movie about crash-up derbies. Or a science show demonstrating "Rust?"

Moose. Going to be the same here for me. Travel paid, jeep rent paid and going to get paid to drive it as well. Was on the set of "My Girl" was supposed to drive a Honda 305 Dream but it was too loud. Still got paid. Also was on the set of "Passenger 57". All filmed in Sanford, FL where I worked at the time.
This though will be special. A WWII miniseries with my Jeep. Hope it goes through. One date will be close and touchy as I will have to leave and travel to the ECWA show the next day. The second day of the filming is Oct 3. The ECWA meet is Oct 4. Going to be a long weekend. Having to travel from Pilot VA to Martinsburg, WV and the to Siler City, NC.

Cool, Zooke. My experience was fun...although there was a lot of sitting and waiting in the SC heat. I had friends that had done things like this before with their gear and vehicles. They had warned me of the negatives of doing such endeavors. Mainly it was letting the production crew drive and do as they pleased with their jeeps/trucks. I guess it happens where they damage or repaint things and such. I had it easy and it sounds like you will, too- you'll be driving your own jeep. The other fun thing I did a few years ago was have my jeep appear in a photo shoot for a magazine that was distributed in the northeast. The photo shoot occurred at Patriots Point (a maritime museum in Mt. P). Some of you guys are familiar with that place...where the USS Yorktown, Laffey and Clamagore sit in the Charleston harbor. Oh, you asked what magazine was it in? No, not Men's Health or Guns and Ammo. Yeah, some kind of WWII magazine or military magazine would've been cool, too, but it wasn't. It was...ahem...a...wedding magazine. The model was showing off vintage wedding fashions. They used the ships and jeeps as props. The other jeep present was a local buddy that has a '48 CJ mocked up to resemble an M38/MB look. I thought I had a hard copy of the magazine, but I can't find it right now. I can't even remember the name of it! I've got pictures that I took with my own camera that day...but remarkably, the professionals pictures turned out better! I got paid with a free pass to the museum and lunch. I was happy that I got to leak oil on the pier next to the Yorktown.

To Zooke and Moose...
This is really cool stuff. I figured the Willys Jeeps that are used in military films were probably rented from folks like you. I found it highly unlikely that there was a movie props company sitting on dozens of MBs that were used in Band Of Brothers. Every time I see an episode, I make a mental note of the hood numbers, then try to see how many different Jeeps were used for the scenes. Every once in a while you would catch them using the same Jeep, but for the most part, the movie guys did a good job mixing them up. Does anyone know how many different Jeeps were rented during B of B production?

If you look at the film credits on the movie "The Blues Brothers" you will see a thank you to the Illinois chapter of the MVPA or whatever it was called in the late 70's. Our local chapter, Red Bull MVPA has a listing of members vehicles available for Films/ads ect., several have been used in adds. Lee
