Saturday 16, August 2014 was a car show at the Veterans Care Center in Salem, VA. All proceeds of everything there, entry fees, food, etc were donated to the Veterans. There were approximately 170 vehicles entered. As I got there there already was a 48 Navy CJ2A. A real on bought by the Navy and used in the Boston Ship Yard. He remarked it for Norfolk. Then I came in and finally another 48 CJ2A modified to look like a military. I had met these to Veterans a few years ago and one of the reasons I built my jeep. The Navy one belonged to Gary Powers and the other Army modified CJ to Jay Kincanon .

Judging and trophies were awarded as they were also donated. There were so many trophies that we thought everyone was going to get one. Gary and Jay really like my jeep and the attention to detail I had done with it. Both of theirs are great jeeps and really look nice. We had a great day together. As they were calling out trophies Jay got one for his 48. Several trophies later Gary got one. There were no classes so we didn't know how they were doing this. We were all chatting that when I got mine we were going to take a picture of all our jeep with a trophy on the hood. Well...that never happened. Their jaws dropped. They knew the attention I paid to make mine look right. But the judges didn't see that. They judged on a different not. I said "It is what it is". As we were loading up, Jay came to me had said "Here this if for you". It was his trophy. I look astonished and said "Really, are you sure? I didn't win." He said "You deserved it. Your's was the best representation and attention to detail." I was humbled. To get the trophy from Jay and Gary meant more than winning it from the car show. And on a final note. We got to convoy out of the Center for several miles before pealing off in our own directions. Lots of looks and thumbs up. It was a great time for veterans and with veterans.
