Since tool indents seem to be hard to get from the suppliers. Both sections anyway, I decided to make some on my own. Others have done it so I figured how hard could it be. So I set out measuring my two military tubs. One 42 GPW and one 42 Willis (get it?) Script. They turned out pretty good I think.

Well on to the real reason for this post. HG followed my build and liked what I had done. Long story short HG knew I need pioneer tools and he restores axes. I needed and ax among other things and he need some tool indents. So we both decided on a trade and here will be how I made up some tool indents for a WWII ax.

The first rearward section was measured and cut out for the indent sections. Top shovel small area and bottom ax large area. I corrected the taper on my ax area on this one to be straight all the way back as it should be. Both indents cut out and panel next to the rusty but good for measurements 1942 Willys Script panel.

Now to weld the indent in on the outside and inside and smooth out the welds.

I still have the front section to do an would have to say that it would be close to 2 8 hour days and that would be from a still learning point of view. Once you have it down it would be in my estimation better than buying them. And much more rewarding.
