So for the late up. I was visiting my mother for the last week. So this came off a cj-2a dana 25 front axle. Where can i get a pair? Thanks for the patience.

That looks a lot like the spindle bushing, but it should be located at the other end of the axle tubing. The end that connect with the housing should have an oil seal. I believe it is part A779. Oil seal- innerInner oil seal Is this the part that you are holding? This is part #649783 Spindle bushing linkSpindle bushing 2Hopefully somebody else will confirm or deny what I've said.

Hi and thanks for the response. Yes this came out of the axle tube and was just inside the inner oil seal. I will look up the part numbers. Thanks again Phil

That's not the spindle bushing. It's made of steel and sits inside the axle tube, on the outside of the seal. I believe it's only function is to guide the axle into the center of the seal, so that you don't ruin the seal when you install the axle. Dr. Vern explains this on his website. For some reason, it's not in the parts book; so it may be hard to find a replacement.

I've not run into that with 8 Jeeps. Wonder what caused it to come out? Possibly someone tried driving in the axle when you just fit it by hand? Unusual. John

Next question, since that part is pretty much stationary in the tube, how does one go about replacing it? I don't know, but I would imagine it is designed to be a tight fit? Is it too deep in to tack weld it in place? And can the part that fell out be reused? It would stink to have to replace the entire axle for that...

What I found in my front axle is that the part is just a light press-fit in the housing. The seal is a tighter fit; and might actually help to keep the part in. I don't think that there should be any reason to replace them unless they were damaged somehow, or lost for some reason. There isn't any way for these parts to wear out.
