Look closely at the scabbard. What's that popping out beside it???
I did a presentation at a school last week. One of the kids noticed it and asked. The club is WWII period. It is a MacGregor putter made for the Army Special Services. (you guys all know that I am a golf professional, right??) Well, there was a PGA Tour player from the '30s, '40s and 'early '50s named Lloyd Mangrum. He wasn't a superstar, but he could hold his own and won several times before and after the war. During the war, he enlisted. Bypassed stateside golf jobs in the army and demanded to be sent overseas to fight. He went to Europe. Landed in Normandy and made it through the end. He was in a reconnaissance platoon, hence the connection to the jeep. His jeep struck a land mine. He broke his left arm and the doctors didn't know if he'd be able to use it once the cast was off. Although bent, he had enough function to remain as a front line soldier. He came back after the war and resumed his wonderful career.
