Who still uses an ax? Well I haven't used one since last weekend. I can't say it is a "good" ax. Haines would cringe at its hardware store heritage, but I've had it for years and it works as well as any other I've swung.

And vintage jeep axes should not be used to beat stuff down with !! I have hardware store varieties that have taken down 50 ft pine trees! Fun !!!

Gentleman , DO NOT USE YOUR AXE AS A SLEDGE HAMMER !! I currently am on the axe restoration mission. I know these are tools and being 69+ years old have been abused. I implore you, the Poll end was never intended to smash stuff with ! Here are some examples . This can be fixed, but takes a lot of effort ! Attachments:

But how am I going to pound in the stakes for the GP medium, Sgt. Schultz? Not with one of my restored axes! I understand this .. No one back then would have cared . It's a tool. But in today's world , there is no metal in the US that could even come close to taking that abuse !

General !! Do these markings make any sense to you ? SDFT Hand stamped into what I know is a WW2 era Kelly Flint Edge. USA marked as well.

If it's military, I think Ben Hurr might have used it. What is it, Haines? I found it up in the garage in northern michigan. Bah. Can't figure out how to add a photo from my iphone. Never mind the saddle (my Dad is putting fresh sheepskin under this one for my Niece) Check out this broadax out in the garage at the cottage
