Easily Rebuilt...
I swear this has been said to me multiple times
"Those Old Jeeps are easy to restore....there's nothing to them!"
I usually tell them that they are #1

"rust in the usual places" = rusted all the way through
"surface rust only" = rusty all over, except where the missing metal has already been replaced with bondo.
"leaks some oil, needs $2 seal" = rear main seal is trashed.
"Ran when parked." = We left the rig right where the engine seized up.
"Mechanic's special" = It will take an army of specialists from ALL trades to put this one back together. Engine guy, transmission guy, bodywork guy, electrician, carpenter, seamstress, key grip, gaffer...
"95% complete." = This value is given in terms of WEIGHT. The missing 5% of 2200 pounds is 130# of stuff. Clutch disk, main bearings, valves, spider gears, transmission syncros, brake hoses...plus 50# of other critical parts. the last 50 pounds is missing metal that has rusted out of the tub.

Only smokes when you first start it up. Has a slight knock but runs real good. Drive it home!

One of my "favorites" is "rebuilt". Rebuilt engine, rebuilt starter, rebuilt carburetor, rebuilt etc. Seems as though guys think that if they take it apart and put it back together, it's "rebuilt" NOT!! I won't go into detail, you guys all know what I'm sayin',,, BW Love that too Sir Bruce. I want to use an example You take apart an axle, you replace what is bad, and clean and paint. That would be refurbished. You take apart an axle, replace All the mechanicals with new. That would be rebuilt. Agree??? Thoughts?

"Refurbished" is good, I would probably use "Overhauled" in that instance. Another: "R&R". As in, " I R&R'd the generator and the problem is still there". I'm not surprised, because in the world of commercial auto repair and flat-rate books, R&R means "Remove and Re-install", meaning you put the same part back on. Usually used where one part must be "R&R'd" to access another. As in, "OH [overhaul] Carburetor - includes R&R air cleaner." It's not "Remove and Replace". If you take something off and put a new one on, you "Replace" it. "Replace ignition points - includes R&R distributor cap." BW
