I notice that there is always a bit of milky white in the upper area of the oil filler tube. It appears it is from condensation. Nothing in the bottom end, just the top couple of inches. Jeep is run about 1 time a week, gets good and warmed up (usually drive it about 20 miles) in the winter months and it gets more frequent shorter runs in the summer by my dad. Jeep is garage kept at all times. Have ~1600 miles on it now and have noticed this issue from day 1. Does not appear to be causing any issues and oil pressure is always good and no cooling leaks.
Just wondered if it is a common occurrence in the jeeps? ('51 M38).

How about compression? How many times have you changed the oil in that 1600 miles? Is your PCV valve clean and clear? Does your heat riser valve work correctly?

X2 what hillbilly said, here in Minnesota they all do that running in cold weather, running a warmer thermostat will help or covering the radiator with a feed sack also helps, temp up to 190 deg will evaporate the water.
