Lee, you better take your shoes off before you go in the house. The Mrs. will not like oil tracks at all! Love all the pictures. Do you have plans for the engine? Is it the reason you need to find another Jeep? I bought my CJ3A so I had a home for the Ramsey winch setup I got. Good thinking huh? John

Bruce, thank you for your data, I have a Supersonic head I will take to the machine shop to be inspected and cleaned/resurfaced, I will have it CC'd as well for reference, for Sleeper heads John, Shoes do not go past the door at my house, LOL, my rule not the brides, not that I am a "Haines Garage type", but shop dirt and grease stays there where it's meant to be , No plans for the engine, it was purchased for parts, the block will be tagged and go on the shelf for a future project or a new owner, cranksafts are getting hard to find and my spare manifold pile was severely thinned while inspecting for Haines, I was nearly in panic mode over the manifolds and this engine had a very nice one, I am a firm believer in "Murphys Law" and if you have spares it keeps Mr. Murphy at bay. Also I really do not need another Jeep, but that is an exception not the rule, LOL. Ramsey winch, you make me drewl,,,,,,very jealous, a pto winch setup is at the top of my "Wants List" I am always looking, very rare here in MN, I would love to have one on my 2A. Lee

Lee, I was working on my MB at my shop when a customer came in and asked if I wanted a winch for it. I looked at him in a WW2 fog and said: You have a capstan winch? He didn't know what that was, so I rattled off Ramsey and Koenig and he said Ramsey. I asked do you have the PTO and stuff with it. He said yes, and all the shafts to drive it. I said what do want for it and he said well, I sold the jeep 10 years ago and it's just sitting in the way, how about 25 bucks. I broke my arm going for my wallet. Now you know the rest of the story. John

John, is it tough working with the pirates mask on, your a regular theif , I have owned pto's, and winches, but never bolth at the same time. I will find one, and I would rather find one on a Jeep so it's all there. seriously you found an incredible deal. Truth be told I would never probably use it, but a Will-is without a winch is like ribs without bbq sauce, just aint right, LOL Lee

Actually I got the shaft. I had to put new bearings, seals, and chain in the PTO, buy a slender U joint for the front shaft, and buy a new shift fork handle and shaft for the winch. New cable, 70 ft. and then learned that you never saddle a dead horse! . It works well and still was a screaming good deal. Now should I tell you about the Koenig winch deal on my CJ2A ? ;D John

Lee, I'm sorry we have ruined your engine tear down thread. So, you are shelving the block, and using bits for others, I really think you should start looking for a poor little cJ with a bad engine don't you? You could save him from the scrappers! Your wife needs her CJ. All kinds of ideas. Hey Christmas is here! John

John, that's the beauty of the "New Forum Title to be Announced site", Pirating a thread here is the norm ;D, we all do it!, and Hey it works here , Haines is driving the bus here , he is the worst at it, and it's Christmas so who cares ;D, I'll post a few more photo's and we will be back in check and back to engines.........Truth be told John, I have a couple very nice running go-devils awaiting the next nice bodied flatty find, and yes the block will be shelved next to several others, you see John,,,,,,I have a problem , very much like yourself, LOL. And I also agree the wife needs a Jeep, she does drive the M-715 once and awhile, I have a nice M-38 to go through, and am working on a GPW, plus a couple "Larger Green Rigs" I do not tell anyone about , so anyway my Black Hills friend, Nooooo worrries . I never pirated a thread in my life, nor drifted off topic......Hahahaha. What I think is so cool, is how much attention this thread has gotten. Thanks Sir Leemeister, keep up the great work.

Haines, you are the worst offender. I'm disgusted. Now, where are the ten digits we dearly miss! Your singing sucks by the way ;D ;D. Forever your friend, John-----PS, I'll still pick you up at the airport in June.

Nate's birthday is today. Ripe old age of 21. He said he was leaving, tired of Jeeps. I think he has healed now and is back working on Jeeps again. Must not have found an old tractor or stationary engine lately. Spring will be here soon and you got a long drive to get to the Black Hills by June 14th! Get with it! Singing with a Black Mustache doesn't get Jeeps fixed John
