Reminds me of a High School event where we submitted a bid to buy surplus WW2 jeeps. We each put in 50 bucks. Never got one. Those parts prices were back when people worked for 5 bucks a day. Can't believe the prices! Wow. John

Here is a shot of a GPW, my dad and I purchased this from a boat manufacturer in Minneapolis in around 1990, many parts were missing, like most of the engine, but is was loaded with many coveted "F" (Fantastic) parts, we separated the good from the bad, sold and traded parts for things we needed for our projects. The boat people made fiberglass racing boats so all sheet metal was replaced with fiberglass, what a PIA to scrap!. Great memories, I would like to find a few more, LOL. Lee

I haven't seen this thread for a long time. Completely missed the "Carters in a Box".
This is almost shocking.
That ranks right up there with a perfect 1945 2A barn find in near new condition.
Some folks have all the luck

Tim, as I look at treasures I will post them here . Truth be told this thread is a prime example of how the flatfender market is drying up. I have not looked at anything since last summer other than at shows or friends projects. WW2 stuff is by far worse to find, what I am going to look at is overpriced but only one hour from home so I just have to look! , pictures show parts only vehicles that are very picked over , one attraction is the GPW has a drivers seat that I could use . Full report tonite . Lee

Sounds like a good Jeep tin hunt to me. You never know what's lying around. I found a set of original rear '46 Chevy truck fenders that way. They were lying in tall grass next to a MGB. Of all things. There is a old MA Willys sitting in tall grass behind where you are going. Guy wants 200.00 for it. Waiting for your report you scrounger! Oil

That is because you have bought it all and are hoarding it Captain! , Well I am trying to save treasures from the Chineese rebar factory and saving things for the armchair historians of the great USA! . Here is the deal on todays mission. Complete pieces of sh%t!, always fun to look , and OILleaker was partially right on the weeds, lying there was the nicest Ford GP frame I have ever seen, the bumper gussets were flawless but was not for sale . GPW, was advertised as having the correct engine/trans/tc, rears springs in perfect shape, the hard to find original seats, ect. Well reality was a different story..........Willys wagon gear driven engine with a GPW head, no dist, and wrong or missing everything else and bolted to a T90 and a 2A transfer case. everything was rusted beyond reality, had a MB drivers seat missing a leg , and the passenger seat was a welded up 2A drivers seat, had the correct front and rear axels but missing many parts........asking price $1700 ...........MB, no engine, early Ford right side fill T-84 trans and correct transfer case with parking brake intact, BUT the shift lever was frozen in place and owner claimed it had a Mercury flathead in it when he purchased it, my guess was the trans that could not contain 60 hp was in bad shape after the 100hp merc and the weather finished it off, rusted beyond hope, correct axels, limited useable parts.........Asking price $900 ..........the third prize was a composite MB tub/with fenders that to the right person could be saved but would be a labor of love, it did have a few brackets and other trinkets/body handles, floors were shot!.........Asking price $700 . I thanked the gentleman for his time and wished him luck with the sale and left . Honestly I would have walked away from the whole lot at $500. Lee

Lee! Check out ebay. There is a Ford GPW for sale 10 miles from my house in Spearfish. A script '42. in my mind , worth maybe 500 bucks. Wrong radiator, wheels, F head, Title does not match the serial numbers, running condition of the F head unknown, no skid plate, welded bubba bumper and missing just about everything. Very Sad. Your day was about as bad as this! John

Here is a shot of the first stop! 43 GPW frame, with much needed frame parts for project red ass, I was told it was a bare frame, LOL so I did not bring a trailer, One mans view of a bare frame is quite different from another . Here is a shot from stop "2". A very nice 3A survivor, original seat covers, paint and 19,000 original miles. The pintle hitch was dealer installed, this is a second owner Jeep Here is CJ2A s/n 5xx, another survivor. These were not for sale

Nice find's Lee! One with formula desert dogs, and another with Gates. I ran both back in the day. I don't think you can get either anymore. The desert dog's were hard to beat for traction needed for hunting!!

Desert Dogs are as rare as a nice 3A today, the gentleman that owns these demo'ed the first four out of the molds on a CJ2A back in the day!. Not sure witch was first, but the gates were not as good.
