Today while unloading a load of firewood, a good stress reliever, I looked around the place, for the most part well set for winter, I came to realize I have a problem ;D, a WILL-IS problem. After many years of Jeep collecting, and over the last six months referring to "Lifes Other Problems" that being selling the home I grew up in, as my father passed soon to be six years ago and my mother moved to a memory care facility as a result of dementia. I had decided to sell off my collection of extra parts and downsize and enjoy the use of Jeeps in general,,,,,,,What did I realize? it's not working, why, because I like it!, what made me realize this?, The 134 L head engine I purchased last night off of craigslist sitting in front of the garage, the 2A I am parting out behind the garage and the M-38 engine, also purchased as a result of going to look at a three parts Jeep deal that was not worth the money but convincing the owner to sell me the running engine on a stand in his shop. Do any of you people do this?  , anyway enough whining, time to deal with the problem, I have decided to start a thread that focuses on "The Hunt" as my dad used to say, as I go hunting for WILL-IS treasures I am going to post pictures of the adventure, if it turns out to be stupid I will have "Barney" I mean HG delete it! ;D,,,,,as always feel free to join in, that's how it works. So here is a shot of last nights find, a 134 Lhead (complete), with an Oaks air cleaner, starter, Ross stearing gear, spare oil pan and a few other odds and ends.   The bad, the block was welded below the distributor boss (common), as always "The Engine Ran" 20 years ago when removed" (ya'right thats why it was removed), but not a deal breaker. The good, a complete engine ;D, you seen it  Here is the M38 engine   The bad, wrong carb, and dist. The good, It runs like a watch, came on a stand with casters and a radiator, and I may need it. Sir Leemeister.... Here is diagnosis....You are suffering from a FATAL CASE of Jeep Fever, and OD Green Disease... Sorry to tell you there is no cure.  However, I should like to point out the information you have passed on, the people you have helped in their build (Myself Included) and the FRIENDS you have made along the way should make it all worth while. The knowledge that has been passed onto you will live on, for those whom you share it with. You have shared with us all So you bought another motor...Wait to see where that story goes!! The tool box was my dads , Craftsman, a Christmas gift from my mother before my sister and I came along. The flag is up side down because your looking at it from the back and it's on the top. Good eye, I will remove the decal as it's not right, no disrespect to anyone but it was not intended to be seen from the back. Lee |

Always be on the lookout for small chains at yard sales so you can leave the lifting chain on the engines you collect. Makes moving them around so much easier.
Nice roll around cradle setup. I like it.

It's been a while since a post here, I have seen a few things but did not have the camera with, here is a poor quality phone photo of a dual intake manifold on a go-devil engine, a hi-rise model for a Jeepster, would not work on a flatty, but very cool, non the less. I asked myself the same question a week ago when I was considering selling my shop and business. Had a serious buyer. I went to the shop and looked at my two current projects, (51 M38, '48 Willys pickup) and thought, what am I going to do if I go home. No room, no ability to restore like I currently have. Am I ready to hang it up. I called the guy and canceled the appointment to meet with him. He was bummed. I'm going to keep going as long as I can. Die happy they say. With the economy , health care, and tax write offs I have with a business, I'm a fool to quit. Besides, like you Lee, I like it! Jeep Disease, Green Disease are alive and well. Merry Christmas! John

Well my Will-is enthousiast friends, the weather here has been rather nice the last five days, after several monthes of -0 and cabin fever, today I had a chance to root in the pile a little, and I will rub it in  , been a long winter  , while traveling through Minneaplolis today I stopped by a Willis mecca , and picked up a few treasures , check this out   So my friends, when was the last time you purchased a W-O Carters in the box  , 2 for me today . |

So, I have crossed something off my bucketlist today , here in my hand is a Carter Carb for WiLL-IS MA, yes you read it correctly a WiLL-IS MA, the first one, or prototype, Moose the MA came before the MB. sorry for the poor photo as it's from my phone. The Will ease MA is one of the rarest of the rare. I've seen the remains of one for sale since I've been on the internet. One period. It got bids upwards of 30 grand and wasn't all there, and full of wrong parts. A Ford GP is common compared to a MA. I guess my '48 CJ2A will just have to do. John |

John I agree Oilleaker, GP's are the common prototype, My dad and I found three over the years and I had leads on two others. The problem with a prototype Jeep is your held hostage for every part, the Jeep police are extra critical of them also. Bantams come out of the woodwork once and a while, I have seen several over the years, but never have found one. MA's are the rarest, very few are in this country, I believe most ended up in eastern Europe. Lee |

I think about a hundred would be enough..... , Bill, notice in lots of 20 they are cheaper,, maybe a $1 cheaper by the 100, LOL. Bo you may need an Iron oar boat for a time machine, not a hot tub, if your gonna do it, do it on a grand scale  Lee |
