i made my first casting tonight, it was out of brass. we had a wall of patterns i picked one out, made the green sand mold, and the guys in the funny suits poured molten metal into it. it turned out pretty good, it is my dads birthday gift. ill post a pic of it here once my phone charges up again.

That is AWESOME! I loved casting back in the day in metals class. Sir Schimster, I have nothing from you at Haines Garage.... Could you possibly cast me something and send it to South Carolina....And yes, I am serious!

Schimmmms, I have a set of LH thread studs for the dual wheel adapters (5) if you need them. I had several drums but sold them or I would send you one as a pattern. Lee

you had a bunch of dual wheel adapters? or just the drums off the axle? im debating what style i want to make. my current rear wheels are too big i would have to make the adapters longer or something like that, or go back to regular wheels and tires on them. the true debate right now is if i want to make them out of Steel or cast iron or cast aluminum.

hmmm maybe, easier to make it out of aluminum than brass, a tin star could be done with a hammer and snips, i could see about it however it would be interesting to say the least. next year i will be doing the actual casting class so then hopefully i will be pouring a lot.
