With a small block , I would probably have to box the frame. I thought of that as well. As you know, I am a huge fan of Chevy. I was also considering like what JPet did with BamBam the Chevy 4.3 with auto transmission. Oh boy.....

Reason I ask is because I know you are doing A KUBOTA engine transplant. Are you modifying the frame at all?

Very little, frames are supposed to flex, heavily boxing them does not let them flex and creates more stress points IMHO!.... WTF, "Auto". Did you lose your man card ?, serious off-roaders shift a manual box, Mall Crawlers have Auto's so they don't get stressed at the drive up at Starbucks!........ Perhaps Bob will chime in, no doubt he's built a hot rod Jeep or two.

Captain Lee. What branch of the service did you serve in to obtain that title? Simply out of curiosity.
Scott, If you really want to do that GPW as a hot rod, you need to consider a few things. 1 A Buick Rocket Engine would be the way to go powerwise. 2 Chevy Turbo 350-360 whatever it takes transmission. 3 You need heavy duty military axles for the serious off roading. 4 the frame will have to be stretched about 12-18 inches for you to add and automatic transmission.
I can help you with all of those items.

Excellent idea Mooooosey, I think the starter on the engine in Bobs picture would hit the Ross box on the jeep frame.
