I have a L134 Engine block with Block casting no. 804380. I have a Head with casting no. 640161. The block according to the casting no. is for a M38, year 1950-52. Don't know about the head, although I think it may have come off a CJ 2, or, CJ 3. My question is will this head work on this block. Please advise. Thanks. leonard

Yup, bolter on, I believe that's the # for a ribbed 2A-early 3A head.

"W" = Wilson Foundry "4" = Casting #4
This was possibly a quality control measure. If they were having some type of consistent block failure on the W3 castings, they might take the it off line to fix the problem.
I have a W12 engine. I have read they go as high as W13, but I've never seen a W13 block.
