I would like to add some floor mats to the Willys mostly to cover up the dents and rust in the cargo area that show the signs of decades of hauling rocks and firewood. Rubber holds the water in and promotes rust. What about outdoor carpeting? I saw a $20 roll of black poly stuff at Lowe's that would breath and not hold water against the metal, but it is very light and it would blow away for sure. (I've lost a heavy truck bed mat out of the back of the willys once.)
I think this carpet is too thick for reasonably sized powerful magnets. I've filled in so many holes with the welder, I really don't want to drill any new ones for hooks, or snaps to hold down carpet.
What about rubber cement? If I didn't like it, I could just rip the adhesive back off of the tub. No holes to fill.
or..."Rudy, it's a cj2a. If you want carpet, go ride around in your 4 door plastic Jeep wrangler."

I bought the wide stick on velcrow. I use it to hold the exercise mat rubber I bought in a 20.00 roll and cut to size at Wally world. I got the velcrow there too in the fabric/sewing section. Oilly

Classy, Rick. Y'all have such nice looking stuff on the trail. I feel like my old bucket brings the quality factor down a notch.
I'll make some stops on the way to happy hour after work today and see about stick-on velcro and that roll of outdoor carpet stuff. Could work out really nice!

Good mats if you want to have them...I would cut up one of the haavy truck bed mats you can get at Tractor Supply, Southern States or Northern Tool.

I tried outdoor carpets back in thee early 70's in my brand new CJ6. Threw them out at about 3 years because they were holding moisture and rusting the floors in my "new" jeep!! IMHO, you're best to leave it bare, and enjoy the patina!! Paint all the floors with box liner, looks good and takes the abuse!

On the contrary Sir Rudy the rest of the gang is in awe of what the Rudy-Willy-Baker brings to the party!! Yeah! What the Muleskinner said! The Studi-Willys is a class all its own!!! That being said.... I remember the molded JC Whitney mats in Dads 2A when I was a child, they worked well but held dirt underneath, but it never seem to cause a problem if cleaned out now and then...

Wow Ryan. Your jeep looks incredible. I think that looks great. What an inspiration. I'll try to cut a couple of chunks out and see how it works with oilleaker's velcro idea. Thankks!

I made the first patterns with brown paper and masking tape. That was the toughest part. Since then it's been much easier as I just trace the old floor mat on any new ones I make.

I cut up my Lowe's carpet and used OilLeaker's velcro trick to facilitate drying. Velcro was not sticky enough to to stick to the carpet once it got rained on. Will add my own adhesive to the velcro on the carpet.
The Walck's rubber front mat doesn't slide around much at all, but it holds water down on the floor for sure. Both mats layered together greatly reduces the transmission/ transfer case noises!
