Well. It did it again. No nothing on key turn. Quick look indicated another dead short. Quick trip to NAPA for a fine selection of 12 and 14 gauge wire, Walmart for bottle of wine I was sure to need later today, and HF for a huge selection of solder-less connectors (barely enough of the right stuff, tons of the useless crap) and started eliminating and replacing old wire. BUT! Finally! I have narrowed it down to the brake light switch as being the culprit. Everything, including, cross your fingers, the fuel gauge (I had forgotten about the double ground for these new repo gauges). Anyway, I eliminated the brake light circuit and VOILA! Everything else works without spitting sparks and emitting smoke. NAPA in the AM for a new switch. Testing much I need to perform!

NAPA.  Find a source for Cole-Hersee in your area and get one from them.... Crappa switches are not good for 1 year of service in either of my driving Jeeps, just sayin! |

I’ll look for the CH brand later. I’ve got carbs to test and need brake lights.

that screaming beaver cracked me up - reminds me of the BBC talking animals video wot made the rounds awhile back. I'll not hijack the thread.
