Not sure what MHO is but judging by you selected picture if your talking about the oil port, it's clear. Pitting on sides of teeth is my main concern. Use or lose?

I'm not saying it will not work, but the faces of the teeth are very pitted, in time and use the hardened edge will deteriorate and will be noisy running...... Also if trouble does come your way this is one of the deepest repairs in the Jeep, not fun to redo, ask Oilleaker, LOL

One of the cool things about this page is how we can flip each other off and enjoy it back and forth. Very thick skin here. And a close understanding of each other. Lee always has my back. I try and keep up with him. Your gear has a couple of other more important issues. The inner surface of the needle bearing tract has to be good, and from what I can see, your drive dogs that the synchro collar engauge are quite chipped. That and taper to one side makes the gear bad in my opinion. Like Lee says, I've had to learn the hard way. It's such a pain to go back in, buy more gaskets etc. that if there is any doubt to a item, replace it. If the dogs are chipped and worn, buy a synchro collar also. Buy NOS American made stuff. Absolutley no OMIX ADA. I've had good luck with the red white and blue seal tested brand stuff. Peter in NY takes good care of me also. New stuff with a little surface rust doesn't bother me much, unless it's a bearing. Your rust on that gear is not terminal, but the drive dogs suck. Anything made in India-----------run don't walk. You will have some end float on the main shaft no matter what, because even new bearings will give you .005 end float. I measures all the specs, and used anything I could with the largest sizes like spacer and gears and snap rings. Also measure the depth of the pocket that the rear main bearing slides into on the transfercase. Then measure the bearing and the gasket thickness. You would be amazed at what happens if the bearing moves front to back when assembled. Oilly

Jarhead you helped these guys answer a very similar question I had about my T84. I mean I've no motor and there's parts all over but in my imposed downtime I stripped the transmission and had questions about tolerances and gear wear. Awesome detail guys - thanks. I only want to do this once, Johnny - once.
