How close (or not close) is it to fitting - would reaming the inside help it out enough to fit?

Don't use emery or an abrasive to open it up, Grit can come impregnated into the bronze. You need to use a proper reamer.

Both Moosey and Bretto are correct the bushing will require Reaming after installation for proper fit.

Thanks guys for for the info. It looks like I bit off more than I could chew. I have not used a reamer in many moons especially in a bind hole were the reamer does not go all the way thru. I guess I get to relearn things. Very good info on the Emory paper and abrasives forgot about that . One thing I want to mention is that one of the bronze bushings I got was incased in a steel casing one on right . Really bitch to remove and if I reamed it I be into the steel I think. The video I watched on Facebook made it look so easy heat, freeze, press, and assemble. They did not say they had to reame to make it fit. I really didn't think it be that tight a press fit seeing how it fit so loosely on the out put clutch shaft. I will try and make a video or take a lot pictures to let you know what l did.

May depend on the vender that supplies bushings, some may be oversized so no need to ream, some may not, Mr. Murphy also needs to throw a hex in there as well!...
