I have an original E Brake cable from the 46 project. It looks in good condition, but I can not pull the inner cable freely. In my experiences with re pop parts, I should like to save this. Any soaking tips or tricks to get the inner cable un seized from the outer housing?

Sticking could be rust. I would not trust it. Especially on “The Bridge”.

I've had luck just putting it in solvent and let it soak. Then work it. As long as you don't have strands of the inner broken, or a terrible kink in the unit, you should win. Then oil it the entire length and work it once it's freed up. I bought a new one, and the ends had a crimped cap . Had to cut them off to fit the original cable stops that go around and bolt to the Jeep. Oilly

I've never dealt with an e-brake in that fashion, but I have worked free with unbelievable success the choke and throttle cables. Lots of penetrating oil, heat, more penetrating oil and then working it by hand. Took a few days.
I was using Aerokroil. I bet the professors's ATF solution would be good.

Dads Jeep has a repop, most likely Chi-Com origins, and have unbelievably no issues with it. On a side note, after two trips to the Colorado Fall Colors Tour, I am simply amazed how many people do not have a functional parking brake........... More times than I can count, after setting mine (it works flawlessly), the guy in the rig behind me would say "Really, yours actually works!" ......... Unbelievable that one would take a 60 plus year old rig over mountain passes of 12,000 feet plus and scramble for a rock to put behind a tire when the colum comes to a stop...... Not mentioning any names and they do not hang out here anyway, but some. Of these people are highly regarded in the Willys community.

McCall and his army jeep car, did it?

Iff'n it was me.... I would soak it in a pan of Marvels Mystery Oil or ATF thinned with some No 2 deesil fuel... (Redneck Gold) until it loosened up good. Then, hang it and let it drip dry for awhile...
