A light accumulation of sleet and ice this AM. Snow started about 0430. Gonna spread some salt a little later. Monitoring conditions. I hear you Cap’n. Thanks.

Same same here. Went to the Arab Mart for my honey-bun and coffee a bit ago and a nice Mustang had spun out and ended up in the woods. FD and HP were doing their thing. Really need to go to the courthouse today , but am vacillating on the propriety of such an endeavor. If I lived in Chuck Town I'd forge right ahead, but sticking out in the ocean a bit like we do weather can become interesting real quick. Y'all be careful!

Houston, we have a problem. My temporary weather shelter for outdoor testing has succumbed to the sleet and my inability to get out and keep it clean. Knew this would happen. Just happened less than an hour ago. Sigh…

I'm not sure how to respond to this "massive" snow event.
-Part of me wants to giggle. -Part of me wants to feel your pain. Oh, wait...We here in Colorado feel this pain for about 5 months straight.
I think I'll just giggle...a little.

Is that the front door to your shop underneath that lucky horseshoe? Don't you do squat! After this is over I can get up there most ricky tic. Got a buddy in Pittsboro I can stay with, if need be. You going to do the insurance thing?

You’re allowed Tim. At least those of us who’ve experienced the hip-deep stuff can appreciate it, deal, if grudgingly, with the light stuff. Snow is fine, bring it. Ice? ‘nuther story altogether. It’s the great equalizer and sometimes final arbiter of Darwin’s Law.

I appreciate the thought and concern. Please, stay where you are. No insurance company will be hurt in the cleanup. I’ll just deal with it and keep saving for the really sturdy carport I’ll build there one day.

Scout, if it is any consolation, the "weather" related tent "catastrophe" has been a huge hit here at my office and brought a significant amount of laughter to the faces of many people today way up north here.

Ryan, I tend to turn philosophical about these things and try to keep them in perspective when I consider that ya'll up north and out west measure snow in feet and months. Mine is a minor disaster. I've suffered worse, much worse. And I know ya'll have it worse than I do.

I'm just kidding with you Scout. I'm sure it's quite a shock to you folks smart enough to live in a climate where this type of weather is highly unusual. I lived in FL for a short period of time. In the winter temps would dip into the 50's and 60's which for me was still shorts and t-shirt weather. For the natives it meant scarves and earmuffs. We're tough up here because we're too stupid to move away from it and stay away from it. Between yours and Zookie's pics it has been a fun day at work though

I grew up in San Diego and the daily earthquakes. I spent a year in a locale where it started raining one day and didn't end for a few months. Incidentally, I spent a couple of hours one night throwing sandbags on the roof of the officer's billet because of the typhoon that blew through and took out one our maintenance tents. I've lived in Florida and Alabama, and yes, I laughed at the antics of soft people in the face of flurries. I've also watched out a window as the sun disappeared, the sky turned black and then green because of the severe thunderstorm that rolled through with embedded tornadoes. I've also lived in western New York. I hated the winters up there. 16 years on the road all over the country and I have taken refuge from many approaching Tornadoes. I've gone to bed with the knowledge that I might be blown away or covered and immobilized by snow. I've driven through Thundersnow. Not fun in the least. Yes, I do see the humor in this and don't blame y'all for taking a little schadenfreud.
