Two long days of fighting mechanics for some really stupid reasons. The brakes on the english car I'm selling in January failed. None. All new components. Would not bleed the air out. Ended up, after completely dismantling things, the push rod was about 1/16 inch short of going back all the way. The hole for the entry of fluid was not open. Sure looked like it was back, but oh well. So, after getting good brakes I decided to load it in the enclosed trailer. I had to start and re-position my trailer with my Cummins Diesel Dodge. I had noticed it was starting a tad slow lately so I fully charged up the pair of batteries. Jumped in, turned the key, slight pop and then nothing. Crap. I'll bet fuel filter failure. So I replaced the filter and worked to bleed it out and get fuel to the injector pump. This is a large PIA. Got it. Still won't start. Batteries keep running low. Charge again. Still no go. Then crack and bleed the air out of all 6 injector lines. Still no go, and low batteries again. My mechanic friend 2 doors down comes up to "take a look". Frowning he messes around and says try it now. Crack bang , started so fast I was shocked. It never starts like that!!!!! WTF? Electric fuel solinoid shutoff was shot. When I reached down where the connecting rod to the shutoff lever assembly is, it came off in my hand. The rod was no longer connected to the inner plunger assembly. Rusty, rubber boot was shot, holy cow. Some DPO had damaged it in the past before I bought it. I'm glad I found it now instead of out in Wyo. in January in 15 below zero weather. That's near where grumpy is all the time------LOL. Oilly

Glad you found it! Might have made for a mighty chilly night in Wyoming! At least it wasn't the injection pump....
Although, it reminds me of a friend who had the same issue with his very abused dodge cummins..... After he found out what the solenoid cost, he just installed a push-pull cable under the dash. Just the old days.... Pull the knob to kill the diesel! Plus.... No battery, no jump, Iranians send over the EMP big one..... No problem! Just push the knob, push the truck, pop the clutch, grab your M14, and haul a$$!

What's an M14?........ Perhaps you should replace your lift pump as well, that era of 6b is known for causing a slow death to the injector pump.

Mechanical lift pump is new. The 6BT is a dandy and runs mint. New clutch, tranny already replaced, a pulling monster for me. I love it. Only thing wrong with a M14 is it's 308. I am partial to 30-06. Garands get the job done. The solinoid is 36 bucks, so no biggie. I did think some on a cable. I like pulling it to shut down, but it also makes it easier to steal it. You have to lock the steering wheel like military then.

Leather scabbard strapped to the side mirror then? That'll work! Might be kinda drafty in the wintertime, having to keep the winder down and all....
