To the great men and women who answered the call of their nation and went before me, God Bless you, keep you and I thank you. To my Brothers who answered the call of their nation and fought next to me, God Bless you and welcome home. To the young men and women who’ve answered the call since then, God bless you, keep you and I thank you. To the fallen, rest in the angels peace.
And again, to those who’ve returned, Thank you for your service, God Bless you, welcome home, I hope you are well.

Scout, your tribute is absolutely beautiful. I'm secure in myself in saying that.
I had the honor of hosting a friend of mine from high school who is the 437th Wing Commander at Joint Base Charleston at MUSC's Veterans Day ceremony. It was no surprise that he would graduate from the Academy or become Wing commander and have such a brilliant career, but his speech was so good it made me swell with pride in knowing him - just watching how medical personnel responded to his "serving beyond The Service" theme, naming several departments and giving examples of how "my people were so profoundly impacted by YOU people, and the job you do here".
It's not just any Wing Commander I can say manned the other side of my saw at a Winter Carnival outside Moscow (USSR) back in the 80s! LOL
(Guilty as charged of the crime of thread drift)
