This is an important day in history for several reasons,
1) Happy Birthday Sir Jpet! 2) Happy Birthday United States Marine Corps! 3) Here in Minnesota it is remembered for another reason, an Iron Ore Boat, SS Edmond Fitzgerald that sank in Lake Superior in 1975, with crew of 29. Most likely other Great Lakes states remember this as well. I remember this happening, and wondering how in modern times such a tragedy can happen...... A fascinating story to me!. I do not ever remember it not being on the local news on Nov. 10, or not in a newspaper. This year being the 40th anniversary it was front page on the St. Paul paper yesterday, and the Minneapolis Red Star Tribune covered it today.

Oorah! Remember it well. I live within spittin' distance of the "Graveyard of the Atlantic" off NC. The Brits still maintain a cemetery on Ocracoke island for folks killed in WWII off the coast.

Happy Birthday Marines! Had two family members Marines. Both came home, one too early. RIP cousin.
Happy Birthday Jpet. Hope it was and is a grand day for you and yours.
As for the Edmond Fitzjerald, remember the song well, especially being a Michiganger.
